ESSAY

Undoubtedly, nowadays more and more people seek to have a healthier lifestyle, choosing to
become vegetarians. However, even though this is a good solution to them, others may feel
that this is not the case with them.

First and foremost, eating meat is a natural part of the human being. In the Bible it is found that
after having sinned, man was allowed to consume meat, this being one of his sin consequences,
and it remained a normal thing until our times. It is true that nowadays is by far less healthy
than before, as it undergoes a noxious process of preparation, but meat in itself is a
considerable source of proteins. If chosen carefully, from a trust-worthy provider and if
consumed by keeping a balanced diet, it can prove harmless and even helpful for the human
body.

Secondly, as far as the environmental issue is concerned, meat consumption is not the most
distressing problem. There is, indeed, a major need for people to become aware that killing
countless animals is having negative consequences. But most of the meat providers rear
animals in the purpose of selling them, so it is not equal to poaching, which is a really terrible
environmental issue. Besides, everyone has the basic right to choose, accepting the natural
consequences subsequently following their choice. During time, imposing has proved not to
have an efficient effect on people’s lives.

In conclusion, while adopting a vegetarian lifestyle could be healthier, we should respect the
others’ point of view. Moreover, what suits a person may not suit the other. Everybody is free
to make their own choices, according to their needs and set principles.
REVIEW
Having read your flyer encouraging us to submit film reviews with the purpose of screening
them free of charge, I would like to suggest a particular one that I recently enjoyed.

The film’s name is “The War Room” and its main theme is related to how the prayer could
change someone’s life. It is the story of Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, husband and wife, who, in
spite of having material possessions, successful careers and a nice daughter, are having major
marriage problems. When the issues reach a certain distressing point, Elizabeth meets Miss
Clara, and elderly woman ready to speak her mind and to help her. She introduces Elizabeth to
her “war room”, a prayer closet. Elizabeth learns how to pray efficiently, bringing her problems
to God and thus, her life is completely changed.

The reason why I consider that this is of social relevance today is that nowadays, the family is
facing serious problems more than ever. Economic prosperity does not bring personal
fulfillment and satisfaction, but often it implies stress, worries and even depression. The film
conveys the message that in spite of seemingly hopeless life situations, we can trust God to
take over our life circumstances, through prayer and believing His Word.

In conclusion, this film is strongly encouraging and up-lifting, deserving to be watched especially
by families, as it can change one’s perspective towards how their marriage could be improved.
