CHAPTER 2 ENGINEERING DATA

I user Interface

The engineering data application provides materials for any type of simulation (excluding CFX and
FLUENT).

Engineering Data can be opened “stand alone” or from analysis system cell (double click or RMB>Edit).

When open this application icon shown here provide the basic controls for the Engineering Data display

This represents only selected materials for current problems

This icon represents all type of data sources available in engineering data application or user can made
new type of materials also.

Material Selection for Analysis

1 Select material Type

2 click on plus sign to select material

3 Check material properties if required

II Material Assignment

New material means jump to new material in library

Import means select material from external source

Edit means change in selected material

III Create New Material

Step 1

Give name of material in contents of engg. Data table

Step 2 Select material properties from toolbar of engineering data application

Note: properties can be added to existing materials using the same technique.

To place a new material in a library you must export it as an xml file first.

• Highlight the material name

• From the “File” menu choose “Export Engineering Data”.

• Browse to the desired location to store the file.
