Exceptional Features in an Ultra Compact Design

The L10 Series is our smallest and most comapct helical
hyrdraulic actuator. Ideal for applications where space
is a premium, the ultra-compact L10 Series features
extremely high thrust capacity in a sleek cylindrical
design with flange mounting and output. Helac’s helical,
hydraulic sliding spline technology is non self-locking
while providing high shock resistance and high-holding
torque for demanding applications. Functioning as a
rotating device, mounting bracket and load bearing
structure the L10 Series eliminates the need for external
bearing systems, brakes or locking devices. Five standard
sizes with torque output up to 25,000 in-lb at 3,000 psi
(2,825 Nm at 210 bar).

Integral Counterbalance Valves
Factory-installed, direct mounted counterbalance valves are
an available option with all L10 Series actuators.

Optional Valve for L10 Series Models

Manufactured from aluminum, the valve blocks are triple
bolted to a flat mounting pad milled on the actuator housing.
Details and valve locations differ between sizes.

The valves are set to open at 1,000 psi (70 bar) and to relieve
at 3,300 psi (231 bar). The valves are set at the factory and
cannot be adjusted. The pilot ratio is 3:1. Standard ports
are SAE-4.

Cantilever and Straddle Mount

Cantilever Mount Straddle Mount

The load is bolt mounted to the shaft flange and is
supported at only one end of the shaft. Cantilever
mounting is never recommended for aerial work
platforms, or other critical and safety-related
applications.
The load is supported at both ends of the shaft.
The upper portion of the bracket is bolted to the shaft
flange, the lower portion is secured by a tie rod passed
through the shaft bore.

 Torque Comparisons

Driving and Holding Torque Versus Moment Loads

Hydraulic Pressure
The driving torque of L10 Series actuators is approximately
linear with available hydraulic pressure. L10 Series
actuators also exhibit much higher holding torque than
driving torque for a given pressure. Breakaway pressure is
approximately 400 psi (28 bar) for all models. Applied loads
and other operating parameters can affect torque output by
as much as ±15 percent.
The L10 Series is designed to support large moment and
radial loads. However, as moment and radial loads increase,
the bearing friction reduces the driving torque. Other
operating parameters can affect torque output by as much
as ±15 percent.
