NOISE CONTROL ENGINEERING

Wherever it is necessary to reduce noise generated by air or gas flow without

compromising the air or gas flow itself and with keeping the pressure drop as
low as possible, acoustic attenuators or noise reducers are commonly used in
multiple domestic, industrial, or mixed applications. The requirement is given
during consideration at the planning stages of new production plant and
factories, and when replacing existing equipment and plant, it is nearly always
possible to reduce sound from machinery and installations. Realco Power
Projects, a reputable manufacturer and supplier of noise control solutions in
India.
REALCO Offers a complete range of acoustic attenuators to meet literally any
need a customer may have in the field of noise reduction. Both ready-made and
custom built solutions are offered.
REALCO offers Industrial fields of application for HVAC systems, DG Rooms,
fan inlets and discharge at radiators, cooling towers, etc. basically, anywhere,
where air flowing to or from specific equipment, generates noise. Acoustic
attenuators and panels are used in order to reduce noise to the industry
acceptable level.

Types of Acoustic Treatments:

A) Acoustic Panels (Biscuit Type):
 Material Used: Perforated GI sheet of 1mm thickness with 3mm
diameter holes with a triangular pitch of 5mm.
 Insulating material: Tissue paper, Glasswool of 100mm thickness with
64kg/m3 density
The acoustic panels are used to provide the sound proofing, which are mounted
on the side walls and the roofs (Ceiling), inside a DG room. 50mm, 75mm,
100mm thick panels with the dimensions of 1000mm×1000mm and
1000×2000mm are available which are mounted on the ‘T’ and ‘C’ shaped
supports.

B) Hot air chamber with Blind Panels:
 Material used: Plain GI sheet of 1mm thickness, Perforated GI sheet of
0.8mm thickness with 3mm diameter holes with a triangular pitch of
5mm.
 Insulating material: Tissue paper, Glass wool of 50mm thickness with
48kg/m3 density
The blind panels are mounted at the transmission duct in between the residing
DG to avoid the entry of the exhaust hot air of a DG to the residing DG.

C) Fresh air / Hot air Attenuators:
 Material used: Perforated GI sheet of 0.8mm thickness with 3mm
diameter holes with a triangular pitch of 5mm.
 Insulating material: Tissue paper, Glasswool of 100mm thickness with
64kg/m3 density
The fresh air/ hot air attenuators gives the provision for the entry of the fresh air
into the DG and provide a pathway to expel the hot air from the room.

D) Canvassing:
The canvas of 300mm width is provided from the radiator of the DG till the
transmission duct, so as to allow the hot air coming from the DG to pass it to the
hot air attenuators and blocking the air to enter into the residing DG set.
E) Transmission Duct:
 Material used: GI plain sheet of 1mm thickness, Perforated sheet of
0.8mm thickness with 3mm diameter holes with a triangular pitch of
5mm.
 Insulating material: Tissue paper, Canvas, Glasswool of 50mm thickness
with 48kg/m3 density.
The transmission duct, gives the provision for the hot air coming out from the
radiator to expel it out of the DG room through the hot air attenuators.

F) Acoustic Door:
 Material used: CRCA sheet of 3mm thickness for frame, CRCA sheet of
2mm thickness for door, Perforated GI sheets of 0.9mm thickness with
3mm diameter holes with a triangular pitch of 5mm.
 Insulating material: Tissue paper, Glasswool of 100mm thickness with
64kg/m3 density.
 Type: Double leaf door and Single leaf
The acoustic door forms the closure for the DG room and avoids the sound
disturbance of the DG’s to let it go outside the room.

G) Rain Protection Louvers : {As The Name Suggests }

 Material used: CRCA sheets of 1.2mm thickness, Perforated GI sheets of
1mm thickness with 3mm diameter holes with a triangular pitch of 5mm.
 Insulating material: Tissue paper, Glasswool of 50mm thickness with
48kg/m3 density
The rain protection louvers provide the facility to balance volume of incoming
fresh air and outgoing hot air and maintain the proper pressure drop within the
room. And also protects from the entry of the rain water into the DG room
which may cause damages to the DG room

H) Removable Panels : To facilitate repairs and maintenance of large DG

sets generally large cutouts are provided into main walls equivalent to no.
of DG sets installed .
These openings are provided with removable insulated panel and these are
manufactured in ACP Sheets and PU foam . These cut-outs can be easily
removed & reaffixed with help of 1-2 labours.

Mechanical performance. ( A synopsis.. )
By virtue of development of the societies and the modern industries has led to
more and more increasing sound sources, resulting in higher and higher noise
levels(dB levels). Noise is one of the most widely and most frequently
encountered problems in the modern industrial environments.
For a eco-friendly and a healthy environment, the normal audible frequency
range is 65 dB to 70dB. While in the industrial environments the frequency
range being higher than 100dB, we REALCO strive for the reduction of the
noise levels by the range of 25dB to 30dB and ensure the noise levels are in the
audible frequency in the modern industrial environments. And we significantly
believe in providing the green and an eco-friendly environment avoiding the
hazards caused to the human beings.

NOTE:

Alternate methods of acoustic treatments,

 In case of GI sheet, Aluminium sheet can also be provided.

 In case of Rockwool of 100/50 mm thick and 64/48 Kg/m3,Glasswool 50
mm thick and 48 Kg/m3 insulation also can be provided
