Abstract
Nowdays, traditional market is marginalized by existency of modern market,
whereas traditional market also give contribution to society and entering labour in
informal sector. This research aims are studying management of traditional
market in Madiun Municipality and looking for some efforts can be used to
increase markets management. This research use 4 samples of markets, namely
Gondosuli Kare Market, Nggosong Gemarang Market, Templek Balerejo Market
and Kenongorejo Pilangkenceng Market. Technique of data collecting use
observation and interview. Responden was determined with sampling purposive.
Result of research show that condition of management of traditional market in
Madiun municipality need many improvement, thats are organizational aspect
and human resource development (it’s needed job description and job
spesification for each function and officer professionalism), operational aspect
and marketing (needed SOP of market management, settlement of kiosk, up
grading of sold goods quality, product size and weight standardization),
development and maintenance of market physical (market building, mushola,
toilet, clean water and electrics / lighting availibility, garbage can), and monetary
aspect (needed increasing ability of monetary official, good governance
especially in administration and financial reporting, usage of accountancy
method, to decrease leakage of return/cash inflows of market, and then, needed
financing alternative to bussines development for many merchant in traditional
market, and improvement of market organization and infrastructure. Hope thats
