In the first place, Lacan has taught us that reading is to apply to the text what
it proposes to us: this Ecrit emphasizes, "the textual caractère du commentaire
que j'en donne", "The textual nature of the comment that I make "
We will start from the differences between the publication in 1952 in the
Revue française de psychanalyse RFP (pages 154-163) and its republication
and rewriting in 1966 in the Ecrits (pages 215-226).
There are two paragraphs that have been deleted, others reformulated. On line
9 of the Revue Francaise version of Psychanalyse; suppressed in the Ecrits,
"What in effect is to man as a man, is a
requirement to be recognized by man."
It consigned thus what directed its conception of the analysis in a first time:
recognition of the man, recognition of a desire of the man, recognition of a
truth of the desire. In it the mark of Hegel and his Phenomenology of the spirit
is very clear (confirmed by his fervent denials) the Hegelian dialectic places
the struggle for recognition as the foundation of the social bond.
A paper that aims to ensure a "textual reading", we can try to verify this thesis
based on certain "textual" repetitions; we emphasize the insistence of the
words truth (9 times) (and its counterpart the lie), the recognition (3 times)
(and its counterpart the recognition) in different meanings.
The fact that this paragraph of the 1952 version (which in our opinion
concentrates the analysis version focused on the analyst's search to recognize
and make the analysand recognize the subject of his desire) was suppressed in
the 1966 version, when Lacan rewrites all his articles, it is the effect that
between one date and another Lacan forged a new conception of analytic
praxis.
But in 1966 Lacan had begun a change in his way of analyzing and conceiving
analysis. Moving from the conception of the object of desire to the one that
visualizes the object as the cause of desire. It would not be just the change of
Mr. K by Ms. K or vice versa, but the emergence of the object as the cause of
a fascination, which appears both under the modality "a white body" and the
painting of the Madonna in the Dresden Museum.
It is the particularity of this fascination that makes it fall, making appeal to the
subject of recognition impossible. This fascination poses to the analyst the
enigma of how to made appeal to the analysand from and on the very picture
of such fascination.
