2. What useful tips and strategies did you observe?
3. What techniques do you think the teacher uses to manage the children and
why?
4. Are there any children in the class with difficult or unusual behavior? How does
the teacher deal with these children?
5. Overall, is the teacher more negative or positive when dealing with management
issues? Why?

Classroom management

The classroom management strategies that I observed during this teaching

practice is different than what I observed before. In the elementary schools, there are a lot
of strategies to control the students such as: positive/negative reinforcement, naughty
corner, performance charts, and punishments. However, in the college the situation is
different, my MST relies more in the one to one conversations and doesn’t use any of the
above strategies. She keeps remind them with the class and college polices and she never
took series implications with nay student. Also, the students of the college are more
mature and independent than elementary students.

In my opinion there are no fixed classroom management that teachers can rely on
all the time. Those rules differ from class to another, and from teacher to teacher. For
instance, teachers who are teaching adult learners might relay the most on open
conversations than using punishment and reinforcement (Milner and Tenore, 2017).
Furthermore, if they used punishment its more likely to be by giving extra homework or
adding more requirements to the project. On the other hand, I think that young learners
respond better to the use of reinforcement and punishment where the teacher authority is
higher than students’. Where in college, everyone is responsible about his/her own
learning and attitude; and the teacher’s role is more like a facilitator than a controller.

In conclusion, I think that there are many factors to be considered before

implementing any rules in the classroom. For instance, If I became an elementary school
teacher I will defiantly use positive reinforcement like performance chart or negative
reinforcement like taking a way the homework of day or delaying the quiz. Moreover, I
will use punishment as a final technique and only for the severe or moral misbehaviors.
However, if I became a college instructor I will try to deal with them as colleagues.
Where I will provide them with advice and positive comments to help them succeed in
their college life so they can be more independent and mature.
