1. I am choosing to be an elementary education teacher because I want to teach young

children. I want to see them learn and make a difference in their lives. I can still

remember the impact that some of my elementary teachers had on me. My personal

knowledge or skill set that will serve me is my perseverance and love for everyone I

meet. I intend to use that in my teaching career to impact the lives of my students. My

current understanding of the school system that I am choosing to enter is that it is very

large and lacking funding. I believe that in time our school system will get better and I

can be a part of that change.

2. My current beliefs about special education is that it is just as important and regular

education. Students in special education programs should be treated as closely to

regular education students as possible. All children are equal and all children deserve

the right to learn and be treated with respect. My knowledge of historical events has

shown me how important it is to ensure special education students get the help that

they need to succeed and the love and support from their teacher’s parents and

classmates.

3. In my classroom, I want to implement a lot of culturally diverse lessons to not to leave

any students feeling left out. I also want to implement study groups for my students

who aren’t doing as well in certain subject areas, and I want to implement incentives for

good behavior and work.

4. I feel that in order to move forward in this career, I need to possess loving and

embracing qualities. I also need to possess creative thinking and qualities of

determination. I plan to complete my associates at CSN in elementary education. I then

plan to transfer to NSC to complete my bachelor’s degree in elementary education as

well as complete my student teaching.
