We are looking for a motivated student to conduct their Master’s thesis in the area of
in Li-ion batteries. This could include modelling the growth of the solid electrolyte interphase
the surface of graphite-based anodes in Li-ion batteries or research on modelling aging &
behavior within a Li-ion battery.
Tasks
- Literature review of physical modelling of Li-ion battery aging
- Electrode and cell level electrochemical experiments
- In-situ and ex-situ electrode and material analysis
- Modelling of the physical processes
- Verification and validation based on literature, experiments, and other models
- Collaboration with ABB Scientists/Engineers, as well as associated academic institution
Requirements
- Master’s level student preferably in energy / electrical / mechanical / chemical engineering
- Enrolled in a Swiss or European university, and this work represents the main scientific work to
receive your Master’s degree
- Coding experience in Matlab or similar language is required
- Able to begin in September or October 2017 and complete work over a 5-6 month period
