The weather is an important part of our lives and one that we

cannot controls. Instead the weather often controls how and
where we live, what we do, what we wear and what we eat but

of weather as a system amongst school students.

Women & Child Welfare Society is appointed as a

Technical Resource Centre (TRC) by Department of Science
& Technology, Govt. of India, Ministry of Science & Technology,
New Delhi to implement “Participation of Youth in Real Time/
field Observation for Benefit to Education” (PROBE) Programme
in Jajpur and Kendrapada district of Odisha. It involves
installation of Weather Laboratories within the premises of
identified schools in which the students are encouraged to take
and record daily weather data/ observations. In this multi-

school Students, Teachers and Professors in centres of Higher
Learning.

Both aspects such as observation and learning about

weather and climate are emphasized in this project. Observation
protocols are devised and the data collected by schools are sent
to Technical Resource Centre (Women & Child Welfare Society)
subsequently to DST as well as to Indian Metrological
