On Tuesday, 12th of June 2018, a blasphemy towards one’s religious values took place.
Geert Wilders, a leader of an anti-immigrant party in the Netherlands, announced a
competition of drawing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s cartoons.
The competition is planned to be held in Geert's office, which is located inside the
Netherlands’ Parliament building. He claimed that the competition has already been
approved by the Netherlands’ anti-terrorism bureau, the National Coordinator for
Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV). This controversial event has triggered criticisms,
protest, and condemnation from various actors, particularly among Muslim
communities.
FSLDK Indonesia as a part of a nation which honors and upholds norms of peace and
human rights needs to state following stances regarding the competition:
1. Unequivocally condemning any acts which could violate certain religion's values
across the world, particularly the cartoon drawing competition of Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH). This event is undeniably a humiliation and offense of Islam’s values, since
drawing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is prohibited in Islam.

4. Requesting all Indonesian people to engage in the campaign to condemn and ban the
competition in many ways as possible, especially through the social media to express
Indonesian’s norms of peace and tolerance among different religions.
That is our statement. May Allah The Almighty always leads us on the right path and
bestows us strong faith (Iman) to defend the righteousness.
