1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this method statement is to define procedure to be followed during


installation of AHUs.

2.0 SCOPE

The scope of this method statement is to provide guidelines. All works shall be
conducted in conformance with relevant project drawings /specifications and good
industry practices.

3.0 TOOLS & EQUIPMENTS

3.0.1 Portable Drilling Machine/ Grinding Machine


3.0.2 Sprit Level/Level threads
3.0.3 Hydraulic Trolley
3.0.4 Portable Hand Tools

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY

4.1 PROJECT MANAGER:

4.1.1 To be the focal point for all over interfaces and other communications with the
company and contractor as required during project execution.
4.1.2 Ensure that adequate quality measures are being undertaken.
4.1.3 He shall identify and secure necessary resources, determining the task that must be
completed, assigning the tasks and delegating authority.

4.1.4 He is responsible for planning of site organization, resource mobilization,
subcontracting, site operation, construction methods and scheduling.
4.1.5 Ensure all the keys staffs are on site during execution.
4.1.6 He shall coordinate all site safety issues to HSE Personnel for corrective Action.

4.2 SITE ENGINEERS/ SUPERVISOR

4.2.1 Responsible for the coordination of all electromechanical activities, coordination with
other discipline and between various engineers/subcontractors on sites
4.2.2 Ensure all permits are available for works on site and all safety precautions are taken.
4.2.3 Responsible to ensure sufficient and adequate resources are secured and provided to
MEP team.
4.2.4 To direct and coordinate with MEP team and other Engineers for effective execution
on site.
4.2.5 To report back to Division Manager/ Project Manager relevant MEP progress,
bottlenecks cost control and other issues.
4.2.6 Reviewing MEP Daily, Weekly & Monthly Progress reports.
4.2.7 Responsible for completing of all MEP punch items and project close out, handover
documentation and operation maintenance manual, training etc.
4.3 QA/QC ENGINEER

4.3.1 Ensure all inspections are raised and conducted as per the contract specifications,
approved shop drawings & Method statements.
4.3.2 Ensure all current issues of procedures, approved material and shop drawing and
standards are available at the point of use.

4.3.3 Ensure the total quality control for installation work. He shall liaise with Company
for inspection of installation works.
4.3.4 Inspect for any damage during, handling and storage.
4.3.5 Monitor the quality of work & insure that fulfilment of specified requirement and that
all quality records related to work are completed.
4.3.6 Contractor shall inspect the same work to initiate IR for company approval.
4.3.7 Maintain Comprehensive inspection and test records for any further references.

4.4 SAFETY OFFICER


4.4.1 Toolbox talk has to be conducted and all the hazards have to be identified before
starting the work.
4.4.2 To make sure that Personnel Protective Equipments (PPE) are used by the Task Force
during execution at site.
4.4.3 Risk related to the activity shall be assessed and addressed as required.
4.4.4 To provide training for the work force in order to execute the activity safely.
4.4.5 Carry out regular and random inspection on site and record observation.
4.4.6 Ensure all tool box talk are periodically inspected and 3rd party lifting equipment’s
tested and certificates are available

5.0 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

5.1 Preparation

5.1.1 Ensure that the proper clearance is available from civil side before
commencement of works.
5.1.2 Check the AHUs foundation and ensure it is as per approved drawings.

5.1.3 Ensure availability of sufficient slope to the drain pipe, for easy draining of
condensate drain.
5.1.4 Check the foundation surface and it shall be smooth finish to avoid and dust
accumulation.
5.1.5 It shall be ensured that all electrical requirements such as cable trays, cable
Trunking, entry side lugs, glands etc. are finalized and coordinated.

5.2 Installation

5.2.1 Visually inspect the exterior casing of the Air Handling Units for any damages
during transporting and transferring of the units.
5.2.2 Prior to start of installation, refer to the approved shop drawing related to the
area of installation and ensure that required material is available at site.
5.2.3 Proper marking shall be done for the unit location / supports as per approved
shop drawing. Ensure the unit model number location shall be same as indicated
on the drawing.
5.2.4 Ensure that the orientation of AHUs is matching with direction of supply and
return duct and all vibration isolators/rubber pads placed.
5.2.5 Under direct supervision of the site Engineer lift the air handling unit, position it
on to the plinth using the crane if required as appropriate and feasible.
5.2.6 Assembling of the air handling unit shall be done by aligning the sections by
using the matching bolt of required each section and proper gaskets supplied by
manufacturer, then tighten the bolts and make sure that the complete unit is
resting properly on the rubber pads.
5.2.7 Manually rotate the fan wheel to ensure free movement of the shaft and bearings.
Check the base is free from corrosion.

5.2.8 Inspect the coils for fins damage.
5.2.9 Check all the filters are fixed properly.
5.2.10 Duct work shall be connected to AHUs with Flexible Duct connector for supply,
return and fresh air duct connections.
5.2.11 Connect the piping net work to the air handling unit as per the approved
drawing.
5.2.12 Pipe work shall be connected to AHUs with flexible connection and ensure that
all valves and control devices has been installed. Necessary bolts tightening will
be done.
5.2.13 Condensate drain pans shall be connected with pipe and condensate drain pipes
shall be directly connected to the traps and all condensate drain pipe shall be
insulated.
5.2.14 Electrical power connections shall be done as per approved drawings by the
competent technician.
5.2.15 Equipment, pipe identification, tagging & labelling shall be carried out after
completion of all works.
5.2.16 The belt shall be checked for proper tension.
