Starting from fundamentals, derive the governing differential equation for
bending of a rectangular plate subjected to a transverse uniformly distributed load
‘q’. Assume the longitudinal edges of the plate are fixed.
OR
[10]
3. Determine an expression for the deflection of a rectangular plate, length ‘a’ and
width ‘b’, subjected to a transverse uniformly distributed load ‘p’. All the edges
of the plate are simply supported. [10]
6. Find the maximum deflection of a fixed circular plate of radius ‘r’ subjected to
uniformly distributed load ‘q’. Also determine the shear force and bending
moment at the support. [10]
OR
7. Derive the governing differential equation for bending of an anisotropic plate.
[10]
10. Derive the governing equation of a plate subjected to the combined action of
lateral load and in-plane forces. [10]

11. Determine the buckling load of a simply supported rectangular plate of length ‘L’
and width ‘B’ subjected to uniformly distributed compressive edge load in both
directions. [10]
