Big Ideas/Unit Goals:


Students will learn and explore in depth the fundaments of art that are important to understanding art expressions and usage of various techniques.
Develop the usage of words used to describe artworks. Understand color theory and line use.

Unit Summary:
In this unit, students will learn basic skills of art such as color usage, line quality and shading techniques. Beginning with arranging shapes and forms,
students will build on drawing and observation skills. Students will begin to be familiar and be able to use art terminology when critiquing another
students’ work. In groups, students will explore art movements and analyze the distinctive techniques used during the time. As students build basic skills,
they will develop their first studio work and organize their entire process into a portfolio.
