Work Environment
Driver assistance systems support and reduce strain on drivers while they are driving a motor vehicle, offering them
ever-greater safety and comfort. Automated driving in particular is a further step towards the future and, in certain
situations, allows the driver to turn over part or all of the tasks of driving to the vehicle. Your involvement in the
predevelopment of automated driving at AUDI AG enables you to gain experience in this rapidly growing field and to
participate in the development of conditionally and highly automated driving functions in an environment that is both
scientifically oriented and practical at the same time.

Job Purpose/Role
In automated driving, intelligent maneuvering of the vehicle in complex situations poses a major challenge. To
generate safe and comfortable driving behavior, information about the vehicle’s environment is interpreted.
Subsequently, an optimal driving behavior is determined in several planning levels and turned into a vehicle
movement on the control level.
As part of your graduation thesis, you will develop new concepts and algorithms to ensure optimal driving
behavior. By evaluating and conducting studies with test persons, the impressions of potential consumers can
also be obtained.
Your specific tasks include:
Becoming familiar with the state of the art
Concept development and prototypical implementation of algorithms
Evaluating the methods based on measured data, in simulations and in a test vehicle

The exact topic is defined in colloboration with the supervising university.

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience
Studying for a degree in a technical subject
Good programming skills
Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Driver assistance systems, robotics, artificial intelligence,
computer vision, control engineering
Ideally, you have had some experience with ROS, ADTF or other middleware
Dedication and an independent way of working
Class B driving license
