1. Introduction:
Outsourcing is contracting with outside consultants, software houses or service bureaus to
perform IT operations.
Offshoring can be defined as moving business processes to a lower cost location, usually
overseas. Offshoring can be seen in the context of either production offshoring or services
offshoring. China has emerged as the preferred destination for production offshoring while India
has emerged as the dominant player for services offshoring, particularly in the IT space. China,
however, is becoming the future leader of offshoring services expertise. In our report, offshoring
and outsourcing are all related to offshore outsourcing, which implies that a third-party service
provider takes over the business and IT process and runs them based on service-level agreements
in various countries. These two terms are used interchangeably in this report. Nearshoring is
defined as moving business processes to lower cost locations that are in close geographical
proximity (e.g. shifting U.S. or European Union bases business and IT processes to Canada or
Mexico) Inshoring, which means picking services within the U.S. or E.U.
Smartshoring means picking the “best shore” based on various criteria and dimensions
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) refers to outsourcing arrangements when entire business
functions (such as IT, call centers, payroll, human resources and customer service) are
outsourced. The growth of services in offshore outsourcing is linked to availability of reliable
and affordable communication Infrastructure with available resources. With this paradigm, it was
possible to shift the actual delivery location of services to low-cost locations in a manner
theoretically transparent to end users. India benefited from the trend as it has a large pool of
English-speaking and technically qualified workers. India’s offshoring industry took root in IT
functions in the 1990s and has since moved to BPO. Other offshoring destinations that focus on
high-end outsourcing discussed in our report are Israel, Costa Rica,Chile, the Philippines,
Singapore, Ireland and Eastern European countries.
The European Union (EU) officially announced that Bangladesh is one of the best 20
outsourcing target countries. Further, Goldman Sachs & Co. positioned Bangladesh at one of
“Next Eleven,” which are potentially growing countries following Brazil, Russia, India, and
China (BRICs).Now a days, Bangladesh is Millions of Dollar from this outsourcing business and
Spreading Throughout the world so fast.

For the development of a country, earning foreign currency is most important. Especially
countries like Bangladesh where unemployment is one of the major problems. Unemployment
rates in Bangladesh, estimated at 4.3 percent, are comparatively low due to pervasive under-
employment and the large number of people considered being out of the labor force.
Unemployment rates are high among the youth, especially among young men under the age of
30. The current population is estimated at around 140 million in Bangladesh. This is another big
deal for the Government of Bangladesh.
BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) can be a vital arsenal for fighting with this entire problem.
This will reduce the unemployment as well as will enable us to earn huge number of foreign
currency. Foreign currency plays a vital role in terms of economical growth of a country.
This report is an impartial requirement for BUS 490: Practicum course, assigned by my course
instructor Mr. Tanvir H De Wan.
Primary objectives:
Secondary Objectives:
10 | P a g e
To help the country’s economical growth by earning foreign currency.
To identify one of the true potential businesses that can contribute to the SME sector in
the economy of Bangladesh to understand the managerial analysis properly.
4. SCOPE
Under the wide area of outsourcing this report is focusing only on the Information
Technology Outsourcing (ITO) that covers Graphics design, web development, software
development & testing, call center outsourcing, data processing, application maintenance,
search engine services, IT consulting services, E-commerce outsourcing, etc.
5. METHODOLOGY
As I am working for a BPO company I have done my whole process inside my company’s
territory. I made several interview with our MD (Managing Director), Chief of operations,
Director sales and marketing and few of my senior colleagues. I asked them several question
regarding their participation in terms of developing the business over the year. How they
developed their business to this huge success.
Collection Method:
a. Primary Data:
Direct interview.
Questionnaire survey.
b. Secondary Data:
From Internet.
From Journal.
Dailies.

6. LIMITATION
The numerical data for all sectors and all the recent years is not found. So, the trend and
Data up to year 2005 is used here. Information about the exact export volume from
Bangladesh was not available at Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), Export
Promotion Bureau or elsewhere. Lack of information about BPO and my knowledge level
was also other barriers.
7. CONCLUSION
At the end I can say that, we still got the opportunity to eliminate this curse of the nation. It’s not
a big deal for fighting with the unemployment. A lot of under developed countries, and
Developing countries are now into BPO business. And these countries are doing dramatically
well. Economical condition of those countries, boosting up in a huge rate success.
