User Tips

1 Line Sizing is a simple task. Do not make it complicated, by sweating over small stuff.

2 Remember
You are not selecting a 4.3" dia pipe; either you go for a 4" or a 6" pipe. When you jump to 6", the
pressure drop etc are low due to the d^5 effect.

You don't have to break your head in measuring to millimeter accuracy straight run lengths. In
plant, eye-balled estimates will do. It is the bends and fittings that take bulk of the pressure drop.
Count them right

3 The 20% margin on pressure drop is not a 'fat'. Do not remove it. All chemical engg co-relations
have tolerances and uncertainties.

4 The attached Line Size sheet can size 5 lines at a time or by linking the output of one to another
you may size a system of pipes.

5 You may simplify the line sizing task by linking Hysys output to LineSize sheet. Save and simplify
Hysys output in an Excel file - each stream in a different column; only properties required for sizing
in the rows. Then link LineSize sheet to the Hysys output file with a Hlookup function, to pick
properties of each stream automatically. You can do for 5 streams at a time.

Suggestion: Use Case ID as an Index of Hlookup function in LineSize sheet, so that the program
can automatically pick-up properties etc from the Hysys output file. See below.

Similarly, link selected inputs and outputs and transfer them by copy and paste to a Line List.

If it is all too much for you, then ignore it. Enter properties one at a time.

If it is a child's play for you, go one step further. Write and run a macro, to keep changing stream
number and transfer selected inputs and outputs to a Line List. I have not uploaded that version as
I am afraid of virus getting in.
