Elementary School. I be will reflecting on the using technology for assessment inside of the
classroom. While taking this course, I have always taken what I learnt and try to incorporate it in
my classroom in some way. Using assessment technology has made giving assessments to easier
I feel that was able to meet the course objective of communicate assessment results to
various stakeholder’s groups. I had to meet with my principal about the progress that my student
has made, and I was told to bring data to show student growth. I was able to use the data that I
used from the flipchart from when I used voting eggs for a pre and posttest. I was able to present
the data good by talking about the gains as a class and Individual. As I was researching, I find
that I could communicate results better by addresses misconceptions about that data meaning
I was able to identify and implement principles of effective assessment in the classroom
classroom, I prefer to conduct assessments in ways that my students understand and how I
presented the information to them. I use skill checks, math problems, exit tickets, multiple
choice and asking open ended questions to help them elaborate on their answers.
The skills check and exit tickets help me determine what I need to go back and
reteach. One of the things, I can do better with the principles of effective assessment is giving
consistent assessments. I sometimes tend to give a skill check out of the blue when I see my
students are not paying attention prove a point. I can fix this by trying to give a skill check on
certain days of the week like Monday, Wednesday and Friday to see if students are retaining the
information.

Since taking this course, my perspective on using technology tools for assessment has
changed. I have always used the traditional way of giving students assessments because I was
taught it was the more effective way to see what students know and don’t know. I have learned
throughout the course that using technology as an assessment tool can make student more
For example, during my small group reading time, I used kahoot with my students. I
wanted to see how they could handle it as a small group because I recalled a colleague in the
course say how her kids love kahoot. Once I use the assessment tool, I saw that my students were
more engagement and I could have a student lead discussion with my students about why they
I used this assessment tool during whole group for cooperative learning and saw that my
students could handle the technology assessment and were more willing to answer the questions
than they would a traditional assessment. Most recently, I have tried voting eggs with the
promethean board when doing flip charts to have students to answer the questions and see who
In closing, I feel that taking this course has helped me get outside my comfort zone when
it comes to assessment. I have learnt how to balance assessment the traditional and non-
traditional way to reach all my students that are diverse learners. This will give me a variety of
ways to utilize data to guide instruction and measure student achievement. In addition to increase
student achievement in the classroom. After this course, I plan to research more ways to
communicate assessment results to stakeholder in and out of the classroom about student growth.
