MAHARASHTRA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, NAGPUR

B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Degree Course

The Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur shall follow Semester system with six
working days in a week; between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. on all working days; a minimum of
90 working days in each Semester; and 180 working days in an academic year for undergraduate
and postgraduate degree courses. The academic course curriculum for its undergraduate degree

Total mandatory Credits are 200; however, the students shall be allowed to earn more credits
from the courses offered by the external experts from time to time.

CURRICULUM
The Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur academic curriculum is inspired by the
UGC Curriculum Development Committee Report wherein the recommendations of the CDC
have been considered as the basic parameters to bring it in consonance with globalizing India,
pluralism and social integration. To aid practical appreciation of issues clinical legal education is
an integral component of the academic curriculum. The course curriculum promotes inter-
disciplinarity and integration between law, social sciences and humanities.
TEACHING METHODOLOGY
In order to develop professional skills in budding law persons, the University imparts
instruction in simulated settings such as moot court competitions, mock trials, debates and
dramas. Individuated and one to one interaction shall be encouraged wherein each student shall
have a faculty advisor, who will be the mentor and the counsellor for academic curricular as well
as co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Study materials accompany instruction in each course to promote intensive and interactive
learning shall be supplied to all the students in each semester. Teaching and research instructions
shall be provided through lectures, seminars, group discussions and individual tutorials. Skills of
reading, research, analysis and writing shall also be developed through project assignments and
presentation during classes. To maximize on available expertise and to promote inter-disciplinary
understanding collaborative teaching shall be undertaken in some of the law courses.
CAMPUS REGULATIONS
The Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur is strictly non-smoking zones and
consumption of any category of Alcohol, chewing of tobacco or gutka is strictly prohibited,
including in the Halls of Residences. Law prohibits ragging and Sexual harassment and
University views these actions as serious issues for disciplinary proceedings leading to expulsion
from the University, if proved. Violation of codes of conduct invites suspension followed by
inquiry and if established may lead to expulsion. Students are permitted to visit their homes or
local guardians only on week-ends.
Students of University are required to be sensitive to the community standards of the city
and their surroundings in their behaviour, dressing and manners in keeping with the reputation
and expectation of the University. Any personal problems or interpersonal issues can be brought
to the notice of the concerned Class Teacher or Warden, who shall help in the best possible
manners.
Use of cellular phones by the students is strictly prohibited in the academic block,
classrooms, administrative block, library and other official places.
DRESS CODE
Students should follow the prescribed University dress code during University functions,
when meeting with visitors to the University and at public lectures.
