Title: Religion on Schools

Name: Michael ZAMORA

General Purpose: To persuade

Specific Purpose: At the end of the speech my audience will be persuaded that
religion shouldn’t be taught in the schools.

Time: 3 min.

I. INTRODUCTION

(Attention)

A. Attention Material/Credibility Material:

1. For many years students have been influenced in schools,


modifying or changing their orientation according to the majority;
but as history has shown, not always because most agree it
means that it's okay

2. Well, my 11 years in the schools I was listening about Jesus,


how he save the world, in exchange of his life, how was his life,
the miracles, the apostles. I was against this kind of influence
and obviously for it I obtain low grades.

B. Tie to the audience: most of you will have a baby, most of you are not
Christian or catholic. Do you want your children influenced by a god
who is good whit believers and destroy those who don’t know.

C. Central idea and Preview:

1. Central idea – The need of modify the current curriculum


according to the variety of religion, teaching the cost and
benefits of the religion.

2. Today I’d like to talk to you about religion on education, the need
of modify or eliminate the religion from curriculum, and how you
can contribute to change it.

[Transition into body of speech]: I’ll begin by telling you about the need of
modify the curriculum in order to change the orientation of the course religion.

II. BODY

(Need)
A. Main Point #1 – all students in public schools are bounded to learn
about Christianity no matter what they believe.

1. Statement of Need for Action: The problem is that teaching


about Christianity is exclude people whit other beliefs violating
his rights.

a. Description of Problem: There are a law that declare the


lay state and education but no matter that, violating the
laws they are teaching religion.

b. Signs, Symptoms, Effects of Problem: our country


historically a country of contrast, pluricultural, whit a high
variety of religions since the Andean cosmovision to
Buddhism or scientology.

i. We are violating his rights, the respect to his belief.


ii. According to the last census the Catholics are the
60% of the Peruvians and only 20% of the young
are catholic .

c. Example, Narrative or Testimony: two years ago in


Argentina the court declared that religion shouldn’t be
teach in schools and additionally parents should not
protest against.

2. Importance of Problem: modify the curriculum is very important.

a. Extent of Problem: there are proximally 10 million of


students in Peru and they are affected by this big
problem.

b. Facts/Statistics:

i. Proximally only 15% of the catholic chose catholic like


his religion the others were inherited or forced.
ii. Proximally 1500 cases of bullying related whit religion
were registered last year.

(Satisfaction)

B. Main Point #2 – Present Solution that Satisfies Need: now I’m going to
present a short solution.

1. Description of Solution: a new curriculum for religion should be


present to the commission of education, religion should show the
students the different beliefs, his benefits and the cost.

a. How Solution Satisfies Need: the solution include other


beliefs.
b. How Solution can be implemented: the curriculum should
be presented to the commission and implemented
immediately.

2. Plan of Action: sign curriculum to support the initiative and help


us with a manifestation in front of the parliament

C. Main Point #3 – Visualize Results: Our new generation will be free to


choose atheist or religions

1. Our children will know about the religion, his history, his
achievements and the dark past.

2. Our country will be more prepared and grow


because as Sigmud Freud say “From educated men
and intellectual workers there is not much to fear
civilization”

III. CONCLUSION:

curriculum.
B. Summary: I’ve told you about the need of modify the religion curriculum
