IMPLEMENTING RULES AND

REGULATIONS

ON

THE 3rd PANFILO O. DOMINGO CUP

INTRODUCTION

The P.O.D. Cup is an annual interschool quiz bowl among brilliant Accountancy
students in the Philippines organized by the University of the East Manila in honor of its
former chairman and CEO, Mr. Panfilo O. Domingo.

OBJECTIVES

JPIA UE Manila, an academic student organization, pursuing outstanding


performance and continued excellence for fostering holistic individuals aims to:

1. Appreciate Accountancy as a meaningful career choice among the youth.


2. Pick the best potentials that will transcend in the Board Examination
performance.
3. Widen the participants’ orientation about Audit and Public Practice.
4. Develop sportsmanship while maintaining competitiveness consistent with
UE’s core values.
5. Fortify the students’ previously learned topics with the real-life situations or
scenarios that they may encounter in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must be a bona fide 2nd year BS in Accountancy student


2. Each local chapter may send maximum of 1 team with 3 contestants for this
event.
3. Only the first 25 teams will be accommodated.
4. Previous year’s champion shall not be allowed to participate.
5. Change of contestant/s or substitution shall not be allowed.
REQUIREMENTS

A. Each examinee must comply with the following requirements (softcopy) on or


before February 17. 2017
1. Duly accomplished application form.
2. 2x2 picture
3. School registration form
4. School ID
All requirements must be submitted to jpiauemnl.acads@gmail.com with a
subject PODCupJr_NameofSchool (e.g. PODCupJr_UEManila)

CONTEST RULES AND MECHANICS

Coverage
POD Cup Jr. shall cover the following Accounting subjects:
1. Basic Accounting
2. Partnership and Corporation
3. General Information
4. Trivia about UE
General Contest Rules and Mechanics
1. Contestants are advised to be at the designated place at least 30 minutes before
the time schedule. Contestants, mentors and coordinators must be in their smart
casual attire, and must wear their ID.
2. Each Local Chapter is allowed to have one (1) mentor/adviser and one 1 Local
Chapter Coordinator. The mentor and coordinator must be registered to the form
to be provided.
3. Contestants, mentors and coordinators must be properly registered and sign the
attendance sheet before proceeding to the competition proper.
4. Late contestants shall be ALLOWED to join the competition.
5. A judge or board of judges shall be a Certified Public Accountant for the purpose
of giving an intelligent and independent decision. The judge or the board of
judges shall have the sole and exclusive authority to clear or answer any
protest/clarification raised by the contestants.
6. Any contestant who shall be caught cheating shall automatically be disqualified in
the competition.
7. After the final answer has been announced by the quizmaster to the contestants,
the quizmaster may entertain protests and questions. Only the contestants shall
be allowed to raise queries, clarifications, questions and/or protests

A. Elimination Round
The eliminations shall be a written examination of 45 items. The time allotted will
be for one hour.

The individual scores of each contestant per team shall be averaged to come up
with their final scores

In case of a tie, a question chosen either by the panel of judges or the


Vice President for Academics or Event Project Head shall be coursed through to
the concerned contestants to break the dead lock. The first contestant to raise
the correct answer shall win the Clincher Round. Clincher Round questions shall
have no bearing on the cumulative scores of the contestants

The top 8 teams will step up to the final round thereafter.


B. Final Round
1. The Final round shall start with and their score reverting to zero (0).
2. There will be 25 questions composed of problems and theory questions in a
random sequence. A correct answer is equal to 10 points.
3. Time allotment for each question is as follows:
Theories 10s

Problems 30s

4. The contestants shall start reading the question only when the quizmaster
started reading the same. Quizmaster shall say the word “FLIP” to signal the
start of reading the question.
5. The contestants may start answering and manipulating their calculators as
soon as the quizmaster has read the first word of the question provided that
before the contestant presses the buzzer, his/her answer must already be
written on the answer board, otherwise his/her answer shall be deemed null
and void.
6. The first contestant who presses the buzzer shall be given the chance to
answer the question.
7. If a contestant provides an incorrect answer, TWO chances of steal for each
question shall be given to other contestants.
8. In case of a tie, a question chosen either by the panel of judges or the Vice
President for Academics or Event Project Head shall be coursed through to
the concerned contestants to break the dead lock. The first contestant to raise
the correct answer shall win the Clincher Round.
9. Clincher Round questions shall have no bearing on the cumulative scores of
the contestants
OVER-ALL WINNERS

1. The three highest scorers shall be declared as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers
respectively.
2. In case of a tie, a question chosen either by the panel of judges or the Vice
President for Academics or Event Project Head shall be provided to the
concerned contestants to break the dead lock. The first contestant to raise the
correct answer wins the clincher round. Clincher Round questions shall have
no bearing on the cumulative scores of the contestants.

Certificate of Participation for all the participants


Certificate of Recognition for the top 10 teams
1st Place – P 5000, plaque from sponsoring firm, certificates
2nd Place – P 3000, plaque from sponsoring firm, certificates
3rd Place – P 2000, plaque from sponsoring firm, certificates

IMMACULATE TROPHY

The system for bringing home the grand POD Cup is immaculate. Meaning, the
winning team can bring home the cup for a year only. The Cup shall be returned to the
University of the East for the duration of the next POD Cup wherein new contestants will
once again fight for the grand POD Cup.
