Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will start the lesson with the following questions, “Do you know a
famous person who made a speech that starts with ‘I have a dream’?” After leading a short discussion, the
teacher will present the video, Martin Luther King from Brain-Pop. Students will be asked to remember one

new fact about Martin Luther King. After the video the teacher will list the new ideas presented by the
students. Each fact will be assigned to the students in the class. The teacher will assist the students in creating
a podcast about MLK.
Students will be divided into groups according to the famous person they select. The group will research their
famous person they select. The group will research their famous person, using a BrainPop video and other
resources. The group will present their information selecting the delivery mode of their choice.

Reflective Practice: To move this activity to a LoTi 5, the teacher could publish the podcasts and other
presentations to the classroom website. The final projects could also be shared during the school’s Morning
Newscast.
