End of Year Self-Evaluation

Look through the artworks you have created throughout this semester &your process
journal. Use specific evidence from various artworks as you answer these questions
COMPLETELY!

1. Refer back to goals you set for yourself at the start of the semester-<hint: this was a bellwork
question at the beginning> How have your abilities changed/progressed since the beginning
of the semester? What can you do now as an artist that you could not do before? Did you
accomplish the goals you set for yourself? Be specific

I don’t remember my goals, I can now actually do water color properly instead of just using it
like normal paint.

2. Looking at your collection of work, what are your strengths as an artist? Use examples-

I think my strength is design but not the actually making the design. Just compare my
complicated design of my paper installation to what I actually made.

3. What skills/concepts/materials do you still need to work on or strengthen? What goals do you
have for the future of your artwork?

I need to work on my clay skills more and my goal for the future is to have better craftsmanship.

4. What was the most challenging assignment you created this semester? Why was it
challenging? How did you deal with the challenges?

The most challenging was the clay because I am not that good with clay and the design was
unusual.

5. What piece are you proudest of? Why???

The clay because it had the most original design and I am not the best at clay.

6. What assignment did you learn the most from this year? What did you learn from it? Why do
you value this learning?

The water color because before I just used it like normal paint. I learned how to do a wash. I
value it because now I actually know how to do watercolor properly.

Which of the Criterion (A-D) from the Art Cycle are you strongest in? Why do you think this is
true about yourself? Which are you weakest in? What could you do to improve here?
 I am strongest in section C because I am better at design. I think this because my sketches
usually look better than the actual artwork. I am weakest in section A because I am not the best
at actually making it. I could improve by practicing my craftsmanship.
