The body of Harshit Bhusan, a software engineer working in Gurgaon, reached his hometown on
Tuesday morning by a Delhi flight.
Harshit's father Dr Mani Bhusan Prasad, a noted orthopaedic of the city who took voluntary
retirement from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), was too shocked to speak to the
media. No one in the family was in a position to speak to the correspondent on Tuesday when
Harshit's last rites were performed.
A source close to the family said he did not know how the accident occurred, but it took place near
Rajiv Chowk in Gurgaon in the wee hours of Monday.
"We only know that a bystander noticed Bhusan and his friend lying on the road around 2.30am (on
Monday) and his scooter nearby. It seems he informed the police who reached the spot and took
them to a local hospital, where the doctor declared Harshit as brought dead. The friend was in coma
and was referred to a private hospital for better treatment," he said.
As the injured friend was in coma and there were apparently no eye-witnesses during the accident
that took place in the wee hours, no one was in a position to say anything, the source close to the
family added.
A locality resident, Balmiki Kumar, said he remembered Harshit as a jolly boy. "Participating in
Harshit's last rites (on Tuesday) was a painful experience for me," the neighbour said.
