Descripción General
Advantages

FY14IPTT00_A/122014
∙∙ Interoperability: Ingeteam IEDs carry out all the IEC61850 premises, which allow these devices to
exchange information with any IED IEC 61850 compliant, as established by the normative.
∙∙ Multifunctional IEDs: Ingeteam’s IED are able to carry out different control, protection and automa-
tion tasks in one single device. These units communicate with the system as an IEC 61850 client/
slave in the case of IC3 general purpose and communication IEDs, and as an IEC 61850 server in
the case of position units.
∙∙ Other network interfaces: Ingeteam gateways enable integration into the system of both local serial

The technical data in this catalogue is subject to change without prior notice.
and non-IEC 61850 Ethernet networks. This makes the INGESAS system perfect for application in
existing installations which have their own local network functioning as a standard serial or Ethernet
protocol.
∙∙ Custom-made solutions: System’s distributed architecture, modularity of the devices and user-
friendly configuration tools make it possible to choose the most appropriate solution in terms of
application requirements and costs.
∙∙ Installation profitability: Two main characteristics of the system make it possible to make a more
cost-effective configuration of the substation:
∙∙ Microprocessed multifunction units perform multiple applications, which would otherwise be
assigned to different devices. OK
∙∙ Communications features involve a significant wiring reduction. Also, GOOSE messaging capa-
cities enable fast data exchange between IEDs, enhancing automation with minimum wiring.
∙∙ Accessibility: Several HMI terminals can be connected to the local or remote network to operate the
system, obtain realtime information, historical data for events analysis and maintenance reports, or
for grid performance analysis.
∙∙ Security and availability: INGESASTM IEC 61850 has been designed to achieve maximum reliability
and to reduce unavailability times to a minimum. To achieve this:
∙∙ All electronic elements (control, measurement and protection devices, switches, etc.) have been
designed and tested to comply with the most stringent electrical installation standards.
∙∙ The communication architectures are designed to prevent any error in an elements affecting the rest
of the system.
∙∙ The status of each of the elements and the communication network itself is continuously supervised.
∙∙ Redundancy: The system allows different levels of redundancy, both at equipment and communica-
tion level. Both the central unit that works at the RTU as the operating console can be redundant in
master and backup configurations. As regards communications redundancy, there is the option to
use the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP)
∙∙ Synchronisation: all of the system’s elements can be synchronised via IRIG-B inputs or by means of
SNTP protocol messages, using the local IEC 61850 network. The synchronisation source can be a
GPS device or a SCADA system via the company’s communication protocol.
∙∙ Process bus: Option to capture sample values based on the IEC 61850-9-2 LE standard and compa-
tible with market solutions.
∙∙ Software tools: the INGESASTM IS software package is a powerful tool for designing, creating and
simulating INGESAS functions as well as being a monitoring interface for controlling, protecting and
automating the entire IEC 61850 system according to each particular user’s needs.
∙∙ Support services: At Ingeteam, we offer our clients a worldwide network of technical support experts
who help to define, configure and commission INGESAS systems.

use configuration tools allows to choose the most suitable solution in terms of application require-
ments and cost.
∙∙ Interoperability: Several communication architectures and several protocols are supported by IN-
GESASTM P+C in order to allow a wide range of applications, from new substations with multiple
vendors devices prescribed, up to retrofit projects.
∙∙ Cost effective installation: Two main characteristics of the system allows to achieve a more eco-
nomic set up of the substation:
Microprocessed multifunction units perform multiple applications, otherwise assigned to
different devices.
Communications features imply an important wiring reduction.
Free software to implement as many HMI as you need.
∙∙ Accessibility: Several access terminals (HMI) can be connected to the system local or remotely
in order to get real time information, operate the system or to collect historical data for events
analysis, maintenance reports or for network studies.

and minimize the unavailability time rates. To that end:
All electronic elements (control, measurement and protection devices, hubs, etc.) have been
designed and tested to comply with the most severe standards of application in electrical insta-
llations.
Communication architectures consider that a single element failure does not affect to the rest
of the system
Every single element status is monitored continuously, as well as the communication network
itself.
Optionally INGESASTM P+C supports different redundant schemes, offering duplicity on: power
supply, data concentrators, operation terminals, RTU communication channels, local networks
∙∙ Synchronization: Every element of the system can be synchronized via IRIG-B input or by means
of protocol messages managed by the central unit (UCS) and broadcasted through the local com-
munication network.

INGESAS SIPCON Operation and Protection
console

The operating and protection console is a user-friendly software tool that allows you to supervise
and control the elements in a substation’s built-in protection and control system. To achieve this,
it has graphical pages which clearly show the substation’s status and permit fast and easy control,
indicating the reasons for blocking if they exist.

This console lets you access all of the protection and automatic operation functions in the substation,
be they for informative purposes (status, events, fault reports, oscillography) or operational purposes
(settings).

P+C System Software Tools

Applications:
High to medium voltage transformer
substations, medium voltage transformer
substations, mobile transformer
substations, distribution centres, medium
to low voltage transformer substations,
and small distribution grids.

elements:
∙∙ General and specific single-line diagrams of the substation, with dynamic representation of the status
of the elements and counter and measurement values.
∙∙ 2-level control panel: Selection and activation (check before operate)
∙∙ Active events and alarms screens, arranged chronologically, together with the time of the event,
acknowledgement option, and status identification using colours.
∙∙ Log processing: Option to file and then process measurements, maximums and minimums, etc.
∙∙ Screens showing the status and settings of the system’s protection devices.

SIPCON/P: Protection console

This function can be used to see and modify all of the data on the various protection relays in the
system.

The console lets you organise all of the relays in one installation into one database so that each
one can be accessed using a position identifier. This structure makes it possible to save all of the
information on events as well as error, oscillography and setting reports separately for each relay so
that it can be viewed without having to communicate with the device.

The console has pages for statuses, events, error reports, management and presentation of
oscillographs, and settings. They can be accessed sequentially or directly by means of a page tree.

SIPCON/AW: Engineering and automatic operations console

This function lets you configure and customise the system, depending on the topology and elements
in the substation. It is composed of different functions.
∙∙ CAD: The CAD function lets you design the graphical screens that will be displayed on the operating
console, using a table of fixed or variable symbols, which can be defined by the user.
∙∙ Engineering: The engineering function lets you define the installation’s database, both for supervision
and control screens and for automatic operations, telecontrol tables, etc.
∙∙ Automatic operations: This function lets you program the UCS and the TCPs, allowing you to include
standard functions, such as telecontrol protocols, IED protocols, I/O functions, etc., or program auto-
matic operations using a simple language, with the option to verify functioning and correct errors.
Each of the TCP and UCS control devices is programmed separately and data is sent between them
automatically using the IEC870-5-PROCOME protocol. This configuration can also be sent remotely
(TELELOADING) via a switched telephone network.

PL300 RC Protection and Control
Automatic recloser

INGEPACTM PL300RC is the suitable solution for the automatic control of reclosers, both pole mounted
and in substations. It has feeder protection units and specific elements for a correct coordination of
the protections in the line. It also has remote communication functions for its direct connection to
SCADA systems with the most common protocols used by the electric utilities.

Optionally, it allows for the measurement of voltage, either by means of an instrument transformer
or resistive dividers. Moreover, this family has voltage detection on both sides of the breaker, thus
allowing automatic reconfiguration schemes of the grid upon faults, isolating the area and restoring
service automatically in the rest of the system. Additionally, these devices are able to generate logic
signals and have different communication options regarding both physical means and protocols.

FV YECLA

The YECLA photovoltaic solar park (4MW), situated in the province of Murcia, constitutes a perfect
example of the application of remote protection, control and measurement devices in photovoltaic
installations which have been connected to the electrical grid in the last few years.

The solution installed is based on capturing measurements using protection equipment and then
sending them to the telecontrol desk, in line with the electrical company’s (Iberdrola Distribución
Eléctrica) requirements of this type of installation. This solution combines all of the protection,
measurement and communications functions which the installation needs at the interconnection
point, into one single INGEPAC TCP-C device, resulting in a cost-effective, reliable outcome.

ICS Red Electrica de España (Spain)
SE Illora 220 kV

Applications:
High and very-high transmission 220kV Illora transport substation, situated in Granada and belonging to REE (Red Eléctrica de
substations.
España), is an example of the ad-hoc solutions that INGETEAM is able to develop in order to adapt
to its clients’ needs, no matter how complex or demanding they may be.

This substation has a double bus bar topology, with 4 line positions, a coupling and 2 transformer
positions, which provide service to a traction substation, which feeds the high-speed train as it goes
through the area.

ICS Integrated control system

The Solution

This plant’s/installation’s control system is based on the

ICS (integrated control system) specification developed
by REE, with the aim of guaranteeing maximum reliability.
The system’s architecture consists of substation control
centre (CCS) in hot-standby redundant configuration, which
centralises and manages all of the substation’s information,
supplied by the control equipment of the various positions,
and which is called mULC (switch positions) or X-mULC
(switch positions breaker and a half).

mULCs include built-in, third-party measurement

equipment and protection equipment, each with a different
communications protocol (IEC870-5-103, Modbus and
DNP3). Each mULC has an HMI display terminal showing
a single-wire diagram of the position and the information
contained in each mULC.

Information on each position is sent to the SCC via the

IEC870-5-101 protocol. Communication between the units
is made via point-to-point optic fibre, via a double redundant
channel, equipping the substation with a completely secure
and reliable system.

All of the information centralised in the SCC can be accessed

from 2 redundant consoles and the company’s various
control desks, which are communicated with via the double
redundant channel, in the IEC870-5-101 protocol.
