Electrolysis: a method of using an electric current to drive an otherwise non-spontaneous chemical reaction
Electrolyte: A liquid containing mobile ions
Electrodes: Two solid rods or plates
Oxidation: loss of electrons or an increase in oxidation state by a molecule, atom, or ion
Reduction: gain of electrons or a decrease in oxidation state by a molecule, atom, or ion
Anode: an electrode through which electric current flows into a polarized electrical device
Cathode: an electrode through which electric current flows out of a polarized electrical device
Faraday constant: magnitude of electric charge per mole of electrons
