Introducing… ”The River at FFC”

By Curt De Graaff, Pastor of Young Adult Ministries
The Des Moines River is a focal point in the life of our city. As a tributary of the Mississippi,
it snakes its way 525 miles from its forked sources in southern Minnesota to its termination at
Keokuk. Along the way, it draws resources from the Boone and Raccoon Rivers but shares its
bounty in the reservoirs found at Saylorville Lake and Lake Red Rock near Pella.
In a like manner, the image of the river is prominently displayed on the pages of Scripture.
Spanning the Paradise of Eden in Genesis to the
Paradise of the New Jerusalem in Revelation,
the natural description gives way to the spiritual
application. Rivers are places of refreshment, sus-
tenance, peace and abundance. Rivers are places to
gather and worship. Fresh water rivers are a picture
of the regenerating Christ (John 7:37-38). Oh, to
drink deeply of Him!
While fully supporting and celebrating the other
service expressions of our church, “The River
at FFC” is designed to cut a distinct channel for
those looking for a fresh-water worship experience.
Please understand, this is more than just a change
in music styles. Our objective is participatory
interaction that provides opportunities to connect
with God and others in life-transforming ways.
During this month of July, we are providing a

Our sympathy is extended to those in our church family who
have lost loved ones recently:
Pat Wallerstedt at the death of her brother, Bill Byers, on June 26.

Thank You
On behalf of my mom, I would like to say a heartfelt THANK
YOU to those who prayed for her recovery, sent cards, love gifts
and/or did acts of kindness after the loss of her home in the
Parkersburg tornado. Jan Mudderman

delayed many work projects that usually start by April.
• Seven original members of the team dropped out for various
reasons. Our deposits to M-fuge were based on early com-
mitments and are nonrefundable.
God has been faithful and provided enthusiastic replacements,
adults as well as teens, for those who dropped out. The Missions
Council has committed their support to the late-comers to help
them reach their goal and we are asking your help in providing
the additional financing they need in such a short time.
We ask that you pray about giving to support this team and the
