Introduction
Kämmer is a worldwide manufacturer of special appli-
cation and general service control valves, which are
used extensively in the chemical, petrochemical,
power, petroleum, pulp & paper, pharmaceutical, food
processing and cryogenic industries.
From its beginnings in 1966, Kämmer concentrated
its engineering and manufacturing expertise toward
producing valves for specific niche markets, instead

Kämmer has established a strong reputation in low flow
applications over the last 27 years. Kämmer provides
a wide range of low flow valves in various styles and
sizes. It is especially known for its expertise in micro-
flow applications (with trim sizes down to a Kv of
0.000001 with equal percentage characteristics).
Kämmer also specializes in applications that require
zero stem leakage. Even before the increased em-
phasis on environmentally safe systems, Kämmer was
a major producer of bellows sealed valves, designed
for zero leakage and maximum cycle life. When
equipped with bellows seals, Kämmer valves reliably
eliminate the threat of fugitive emissions or toxic/cor-
rosive leakage.
It also specializes in custom applications such as those
required for research, tanks, glass systems and bio-
genetic/pharmaceutical processes.
Kämmer supplied eight 31300 Series angle valves with bellows
seals to this H2S Alkalinization unit.
Each Kämmer valve is thoroughly seat-leak tested before leaving the
factory.

diaphragm actuator that permits multiple configurations,
with or without positioners. It also has a compact, light-
weight electric actuator that can be equipped with an
integral electronic positioner. With the best perform-

Low Flow Valves
For extremely low flows, Kämmer has a renowned line
of low flow control valves, with Kv ranging from 0.000001
to 2.5 – in a wide range of temperatures and pressures
(up to 4000 bar).
Kämmer offers a number of different body configura-
tions (including globe, angle and three-way valves) both
in top-entry and split-body types. Kämmer low flow
valves are available in all types of stainless steels and
exotic alloys. Available end connections include
screwed, flanged, weld ends and others.
Kämmer low flow valves can also be equipped with soft
seats for ANSI Class VI requirements. Trims are avail-
able with equal percentage, linear or quick open char-
acteristics. Special low noise and anti-cavitation trims
are also available, as well as hardened trims for se-
vere services. Top-entry to the packing box allows for
easy maintenance and servicing.
As with all Kämmer valves, bellows seal assemblies
can be installed easily to any low flow design.

Plastic Valves
For highly toxic or corrosive applications where the fluid
cannot contact a metal surface, Kämmer offers the
32000 series plastic-body globe-style valve. Designed
with top-entry to the trim, the 32000 Kämmer valve
comes equipped with a polyteltrafluoro ethylene (PTFE)
bellows seal with additional safety packing, ensuring
no fluid leakage to atmosphere.
The body subassembly can be manufactured from the
following plastic materials: polypropylene (PP),
polyvinylchloride (PVC) or polyvinyldene fluoride
(PVDF). The body, seat ring, plug, bellows seal and
bonnet are all plastic. Flanges are made from glass-
reinforced polyester resin.

Bellows Seals
To protect personnel and the environment toxic or ag-
gressive mediums must be processed in a closed sys-
tem.
To ensure the integrity of such systems Kämmer can
supply all its valves with bellows seals, depending on
the valve series in metal or plastic design, that guaran-
tee zero leakage.
Kämmer bellows seals fulfil the requirements of the
German "TA-Luft"
Kämmer’s design includes a rugged hydroformed
bellows seal with the backup packing seal located well
above the bellows. For maximum protection, Kämmer
offers bellows with up to five walls with wall thickness
from 0.1 to 0.15 mm (for greater wall flexibility). A leak
detection port is standard.
Kämmer offers a variety of bellows seals, providing the
best cycle life in the business. Depending on the pres-
sure and temperature, Kämmer bellow designs can
exceed 1 million cycles. To ensure the integrity of the
bellows seal, each new valve or bellows seal spare part
is tested using a stringent helium leak test.
Instead of using a welded bellows design, Kämmer only
chooses hydroformed bellows seals because of their
strength and ability to withstand pressure, especially in
high pressures. Because minimal welding is required
for hydroformed bellows, they are available in a wider
variety of materials, such as 300 series stainless steels, Kämmer also offers a submerged bellows seal design, providing
Hastelloy® C 276, nickel, Monel®, titanium, Inconel® and less overall height.

General Service Valves
Kämmer offers a competitive line of general service
globe-style valves designed to meet many common
applications, although they can be modified to meet
specific requirements. Kämmer general service valves
are compact, lightweight and extremely accurate. They
are available in sizes up DN 150 and in Kv to 400. High
pressure designs are available up to 700 bar. Equal
percentage, linear and on-off flow characteristics are
available.
Both split-body and top-entry styles are available, de-
pending upon the maintenance requirements. Kämmer
general service valves feature Teflon® packing as a
standard, along with Grafoil® for high temperature ap-
plications (up to 430° C), Kalrez® and others.
Kämmer’s design versatility allows for a number of modi-
fications. As with all Kämmer valves, bellows seals can
easily be installed as a preventative measure against
leakage. Various trim options are also available, such
as trims for reducing noise or cavitation. Hardened trims
and soft seats are also options. Radiation fins are also
available for severe temperatures. Kämmer general serv-
ice valves include three-way types for diverting or com-
bining services.
Because of the wide use of Kämmer general service
valves, all common end connections are available, in-
cluding screwed, flanged, weld ends and others.

StarPac Intelligence Systems
The StarPac ® Intelligent System integrates Kämmer
valves with optional local single-loop measurement of
flow, pressure or temperature. Also, one of the variables
(flow, pressure or temperature) can be controlled with
a local PID control action. Logging and control of the
flow parameter are also available.
Using StarPac on a Kämmer valve has the following
advantages: 1) lower overall operating costs, 2) fewer
line penetrations, 3) greater control of the process, 4)
improved response to hazardous conditions or other
safety matters, and 5) better maintenance with StarPac’s
ability to record, and report on the valve and process
equipment performance.
Communication with StarPac systems is through three
analog and four discrete channels, as well as through
an RS-485 channel to a DCS or computer using MODBUS
or SP50 protocol.

Custom Service valves

Kämmer can provide a custom valve for any applica-
tion. Kämmer has produced a wide variety of custom
body designs – including pocket-free bodies, stream-
lined tank valve bodies, sweep bodies for erosive serv-
ices, offset bodies, jacketed bodies, Y-body (straight through)
bodies and elbow bodies.
And, Kämmer has the engineering and manufacturing
expertise to handle any exotic alloy, such as zirconium,
nickel, Monel ®, Hastelloys B® & C®, titanium, Inconel®,
Carpenter 20® and tantalum.
Occasionally, users require special modifications to a
standard design. Kämmer has produced special guid-
ing to meet application requirements. Seats have been
designed external to the body and flanged in-place to
simplify maintenance. Erosive services have been han-
dled with custom hardened trim with the help of ceram-
ics, tungsten carbide or Stellite®.

bottoms valve) lend themselves well to associated applica-

Kämmer Tank Flush Valves
The Kämmer 51000 Series tank flush valve is a prime
example of how a Kämmer custom engineered valve
became an industry standard for a specific market. This
unique valve is typically used for on-off bottom drain
tank applications, where flushing or fluid transfer is nec-
essary. The valve mounts flush to the tank with a plug
extending into the tank with the seat ring flush with the
inner wall of the tank.
The valve’s compact, lightweight design is ideal for in-
line maintenance under the tank. It can be specified
with either a 45° or 60° angle. Other options include
bellows seal, a special body without pockets, steam
jacketing or a plug that retracts into the body (as op-
posed to the standard design with an extended plug).
The tank flush valve can be equipped with either a pneu-
matic or electric actuator, or a manual handwheel, if neces-
sary.
