EMADS – Enhanced Modular Air Defence Solutions is a rapidly deployable The benefits of using a common solution for multiple platforms and
point and area defence system to protect mobile and static high value services include:
assets. It is all-weather providing protection against the spectrum of • Common components that can be used to create a modular
conventional and difficult air targets including low level terrain following weapon system
and high altitude threats. • Broad target set including high speed, manoeuvring, low signature
targets in high level countermeasure environments
EMADS deploys the Common Anti-air Modular Missile (CAMM) family of • Can be used with a variety of surveillance sensor systems
air defence missiles, designed for land and sea environments, • Command and Control system common to all surface deployments
incorporating advanced technologies to provide complete protection • Cost benefits of sharing missile stockpiles
against all known and projected air threats. • Affordability due to low procurement and through-life costs

CAMM has been developed for both land and maritime use and allows
operational advantages and reduces logistics cost for the UK MOD. The
same advantages apply to the CAMM-ER (Extended Range) missile at the
• High rate of fire against multiple simultaneous targets
heart of the Italian SPADA replacement programme.
• Soft Vertical Launch technology for minimum launch signature
The system has been designed for interoperability with a wide range of and high performance
existing and future ground based air defence C2 systems and other air • Compact missile allows for multiple weapons fit in limited spaces
defence weapons to support an integrated, layered air defence structure. • Compatible with any surveillance sensor for targeting
The detailed functionality can be tailored to meet the customer’s • Vertical launch enabling 360° coverage in all launch sectors
preferred way of working, giving exceptional operational flexibility. • Wide air target set
• All-weather active RF seeker
• Two-way data link between the missile and launcher
• Designed for third party targeting
• Minimal logistics support and maintenance required

EMADS offers land based forces a highly effective and easily deployable, point and local area air defence Name
system, capable of operating as either a stand-alone unit or integrated within a battlespace network. The • EMADS
use of third party target information from the wider battlespace network allows the system to engage
targets that are non line-of-sight from the local launcher or sensors.

The light weight and compact designs allow multiple missiles to be carried by a suitable vehicle. The soft
launch technology provides a true 360° air defence capability and a weapon system that can be easily
concealed and quickly deployed, and missiles can be fired from urban settings or woodland clearings.

Each launcher is scaleable and can carry multiple CAMM or CAMM-ER missiles, providing coverage against
multiple simultaneous threats. The launchers are highly mobile with excellent off-road capability.

The launcher provides EMADS with pre-launch targeting information based on track data from a suitable
radar sensor. Target updates to in-flight missiles via a secure two-way data link further improve capability
