Term 2 Second Half - Colours of the World
Year 1
Theme - The Rainforest
Theme (Art, Science and Humanities)
In Theme our main focus will be on Science. In Science
we will be identifying and naming a variety of plants,
flowers and trees that you can find in the rainforest. This
will link closely with our Art lessons in order for us to
improve our observation skills. We will learn about
different types of rainforest animals and the differences
and similarities between them and will categorise these
animals in different ways.
In Theme we will also touch upon Geography in order to
discover where our rainforests are in the World.
Computing
During Computing we will be learning about different types
of information media and developing research skills using
simple websites and Apps to find out more about rainforest
animal in preparation for the non-fiction writing in English.
Art and DT
We will be learning to sketch and paint real life วิชาภาษาไทย เรี ยนเกียวกับเรื องการอ่าน การเขียน สี ประจํ าวัน เดือนทัง
plants and flowers. We will create a piece of art
พยัญชนะ ตัว และสระ เสี ยง
in the style of Henri Rousseau. We will create a
rainforest animal sculpture from papier mache.
All of this work will be displayed at the whole
school exhibition towards the end of term.
Music
In Music, we will learn a variety of songs about the rainforest
and create an piece of music inspired by the sounds of the
rainforest. We will also learn to play the recorder and learn
the notes B and A.
Mandarin
In Mandarin, we will be learning about Thailand’s local fruits
and colours around us. We will also learn how to express
‘this’ and ‘that’ in Mandarin.
English
In English we will begin with some story writing,
focussing on a beginning, problem, solution and
end. After that, each child will create a piece of
non-fiction writing about a rainforest animal of
their choice. We will continue our daily phonics
lessons.
Maths
In Maths we will be extending our learning of
addition and subtraction, applying our
knowledge of numbers to solve more complex
problems. We will be learning about measuring
length and height; multiplication and division;
and fractions.
PSHE
In PSHE we will discuss the different
relationships we form. We will look and what is
fair and unfair, what is kind and unkind, and
what is right or wrong. We will listen to other
people and play and work cooperative learning
strategies to solve simple arguments.
Thai

PE
Outdoor Adventurous Activities
We will be learning to use space and a
number of objects to solve a variety of
problems. We will also be watching others’
performances and delivering feedback.
Netball
We will learn movement skills relevant to
games, including running, stopping, jumping,
chasing and dodging. Students will begin to
make use of space and start to think about
outwitting an opponent.
