Write sentence correction on the white board:
Set up windows on computer – study guide, quiz key, vocab sheet key, notes, and reflection questions.

Presentation:
-Beginning- 10 mins
1. Students stagger in after the bell and pull out homework and yellow books. Students work on the daily sentence correction while I do a
homework check. Some students will have 10 checks today!
2. Go over the study guide homework as review for quiz and an opportunity for those to finish it or add anything that they missed.
-Middle- 45 mins
3. Quiz – hand out quiz #3. Remind students that they should hold onto the quizzes when they are done. No cell phones or books. They
may wait quietly and draw on the back of their tests when they are finished. Note: Some students are behind and therefore will actually
be writing quiz #2 during the time and Quiz 3 later.
4. Once all students are finished, students trade with someone near them to mark the matching section of the quiz.
5. Students put a total out of 10 and hand in their quizzes.
6. Finish notes from quarter 3 of the book. Students will need 3 sticky notes.
7. Continue class by finishing our section 4 vocab sheets. Students copy definitions from the projector.
-End- Remaining time 15 mins –

8. Students will journal. They must show me that they are complete before they pack up.
• Have you ever stopped being friends with someone that was a close friend? How did you deal with it? Explain.
• What are your predictions for Melinda now that she doesn’t even have Heather as a friend? Why? Explain.
• Describe the flashback in this part of the novel.
• Make a list of things that Melinda should have done after the party. Why didn’t she do anything? Explain.
**If students finish early, they may share their response with a friends near by and make predictions for section 4
