DESCRIPTION
Cocaine is benzoylmethyl ecgonine, a crystalline alkaloid from the coca
plant. It acts as a stimulant, appetite suppressant, and anesthetic.
EFFECTS
Short-term:
Loss of appetite
Increased heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature
Contracted blood vessels
Increased rate of breathing
Dilated pupils
Disturbed sleep patterns
Nausea
Hyperstimulation
Bizarre, erratic, sometimes violent behavior
Hallucinations, hyperexcitability, irritability
Tactile hallucination that creates the illusion of bugs burrowing under the
skin
Intense euphoria
Anxiety and paranoia
Depression
Intense drug craving
Panic and psychosis
Convulsions, seizures and sudden death from high doses (even one time)

HEROIN
DESCRIPTION
Opioid drug made from morphine, a natural substance taken from the seed
pod of the various opium poppy plants. Can be a white or brown powder, or a black
sticky substance known as black tar heroin.
EFFECTS:
Short-term:
Dry mouth
Severe itching
Bad teeth
Inflammation of the gums
Constipation
Cold sweats
Itching
Weakening of the immune system
Coma
Respiratory (breathing) illnesses
Muscular weakness, partial paralysis
Reduced sexual capacity and long-term impotence in men
Menstrual disturbance in women
Inability to achieve orgasm (women and men)
Loss of memory and intellectual performance
Introversion
Depression
Pustules on the face
Loss of appetite
Insomnia
MEDICINAL USE
Long-term:
Nausea and vomiting.
Abdominal distention and bloating.
Constipation.
Liver damage (especially prevalent in abuse of drugs that combine opiates with
acetaminophen).
Brain damage due to hypoxia, resulting from respiratory depression.
Development of tolerance.
Dependence.

METHADONE
DESCRIPTION
Is a synthetic opiate manufactured for use as a painkiller and as
substitute for heroin in the treatment of heroin addiction. It has similar effects to
heroin but doesn't deliver the same degree of buzz or high as heroin.
EFFECTS
Short-term:
Feelings of euphoria.
Sedation.
Drowsiness.
Relaxation.
Long-term
Impaired judgment
Heart problems
MEDICINAL USE:
-Treat severe ongoing pain (such as due to cancer)
- Treatment for an addiction to heroin or narcotic painkillers
DESCRIPTION
A semisynthetic opioidsynthesized from thebaine, an
opioid alkaloid found in the Persian poppy, and one of the many alkaloids found
in the opium poppy.
EFFECTS
Short-term:
Euphoria.
Extreme relaxation.
Reduced anxiety.
Pain relief.
Sedation.
Long-term:
Can have detrimental psuchological and physiological impacts, including
dependency
Kidney and liver failure.
Reduction in the brain’s ability to adapt to new input
MEDICINAL USE
-Used for managing moderate to moderately severe acute or chronic pain.
REMIFENATIL
DESCRIPTION
Is a potent ultra short-acting synthetic opioid analgesic drug. It is given to
patients during surgery to relieve pain and as an adjunct to an
anaesthetic. Remifentanil is a specific mu-type-opioid receptor agonist.

Itching,
Sweating,
Headache,

Sore throat,

ALFENTANIL
DESCRIPTION
A short-acting opioid anesthetic and analgesic derivative of FENTANYL. It
produces an early peak analgesic effect and fast recovery of consciousness.
EFFECT
Short-term:
Slurred speech
Drunk, dizzy or dazed appearance
Inability to coordinate movement
Hallucinations and delusions
Hostility
Apathy
Impaired judgment
Unconsciousness
Severe headaches
Rashes around the nose and mouth
Prolonged sniffing of these chemicals can induce irregular and rapid
heartbeat and lead to heart failure and death within minutes.
Death from suffocation can occur by replacing oxygen in the lungs with the
chemical, and then in the central nervous system, so that breathing ceases.
Long-term:
Muscle weakness
Disorientation
Lack of coordination
Irritability
Depression
Serious and sometimes irreversible damage to the heart, liver, kidneys,
lungs and brain
Memory impairment, diminished intelligence
Hearing loss
Bone marrow damage
Deaths from heart failure or asphyxiation (loss of oxygen)
