Part) Nose,feet and Tail),More than 10% white
Disqualified as breed,
-Short head,Dished face,Ears are erect
-Suitable for indian condition,
-Produce Good quality Pork,
-Well balanced Pork,High cut out Value,
-Popularly used for upgrading in southern
region
4. Tamworth England -Golden red colour varies light to dark,
(Central Part) -Long snout,erect ears,
-Finest quality bacon due to its lean body free
from excessive fat,
-Pigs are excellent foragers,
-Sows are prolific & Careful mothers,
-Less prolific compared to other pigs
5. Large Black England -One of the oldest pig breed in great Britain,
-Body complete black,
-Ears are long,thin and droopy,Covers both the
eyes,
-Breed renowed for its hardiness and docility,
-Sows very good milkers
6. Saddle Back England -Essentially a bacon breed,
-It adopts well in Different Climatic condition,
-It is black in colour with white forelegs,
-It is more or less like Hampshire breed,
-Snout is straight and ears are short and erect
having forward pitch,
-Feed Conversion Efficiency is Very High
7. Duroc USA -Cross of Jersey reds and Duroc of New york,
-Red coloured with shades varying from
Golden to Cherry red colour,
-Large litter and Good mother
-Good meat type,
-Excellent rate of gain and feed efficiency
8. Chester White USA -Foundation stock pigs of English
Yorkshire,Lincolnshire and Cheshire breeds,
-White colour with Bluish spot some time
found on the skin,
-Sows very prolific
9. Hereford USA -One of the newer breeds of swine,similar to
Hereford cattle,
- 2/3 red in colour,either light or dark with
constant white face,
-Smaller than other breeds of Swine
10. Hampshire USA -Originally developed in USA from hogs
imported from UK,
-Black with white belt around Chest,
-Body is elongated,erect ears,
-Sows are very docile,well adapted to indian
condition,
-Good milking,Mothering ability breed
11. Landrace Denmark -White in colour,Although black skin spots
“Frackles” is not considered as defect,
-Long snout,Large drooping ears,
-Carcass more lean that of other meat,
-Highest quality bacon in the world(Less back
fat and lard),
-High Prolificacy and for efficiency of feed
utilisation,
-Landrace susceptible to sunburn,
