Classroom Discipline Plan

Develop a Classroom Discipline Plan as if you were going to implement the principles of Canter's
Assertive Discipline. Make sure to submit Pre-Steps and Plan. Follow the following format:

Pre-Steps:

State the grade level for which the plan is intended.

In his publications Canter has described the following method for developing classroom rules. Follow
these steps in developing a set of rules that are appropriate for the grade level you chose:

 Brainstorm a list of all your needs and wants in terms of student behavior in your classroom.
(This will be different for different people. For example, some of you may prefer a quiet
classroom at all times, while others may not care about noise level or may want it quiet at some
times and not others.)

 Rearrange your list so that similar ideas are grouped together. Try to combine similar ideas into
one.

 Prioritize the list.

The plan is intended for high school level students.

Wants:

1. Raise hand before speaking to the class

2. No talking while teacher or other students are talking
3. Don’t use phones during lesson instruction
4. Respect everyone’s questions and opinions
5. Don’t be late
