Book Trailer Planning

Dana Ryal

1. I am designing this book trailer for a third grade classroom. These students’ ages range from 8-
10 years old. They come from all types of homes and all have many different experiences. My
students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds.
A. I have 12 girls and 10 boys in my class. Their ages range from 8-10 years old.
B. Most of my students share a similar cultural background. However, two of my students moved
to the United States within the last year.
C. I have a range of education levels in my class. I have some students that are in the gifted/reach
program and are high achievers. I also have some students that are right on grade level. There
are a few students that are well below grade level and struggle to get by in class.
D. I have a few students will special needs and accommodations. These students get questions and
answers read to them, extended time on assignments, and frequent breaks.
E. Most of my students are able to read independently on their level with little to no help. The
students that struggle and are well below grade level can either use picture clues, decode
words, or use sight words to figure out words.
F. Motivation:
Attention- I will keep my students’ attention by posing a question and having them problem
solve during the book trailer.
Relevance- I will use concrete language and use examples/concepts that are related to the
student’s experiences.
Confidence- I will give my students confidence by presenting requirements and criteria.
Satisfaction- I will use positive consequences, like providing feedback and reinforcements,
throughout the task.
