EM Call Checklist
Perform this procedure when visiting a site for an emergency maintenance (EM) call.

1. Repair the print problem that caused the EM call.
2. Ensure that any pending print cycles have completed. If the Pause symbol on the
display screen is illuminated, touch it to close the film cartridge.
3. De-energize the imager, and then disconnect the power cord.
4. Remove the:
a. Top cover
b. Left cover
c. Right cover

5. Remove the 2 rear screws (1) on the processor drum cover, and then pivot the cover
open toward the front of the imager.

6. Check the processor drum for imperfections, gouges, and areas of excessive buildup
of debris (anything that might cause an image artifact).
If the processor drum is damaged, replace it.

7. Use alcohol wipes to clean the processor drum (3) and processor cover rollers (4). Wipe
the drum and rollers in one direction with an even steady pressure. Rotate while
wiping to clean the entire surface.

8. If you installed a new processor drum, calibrate the processor drum temperature.

Preventive Maintenance

Perform the PM
Every PM, perform all of the following procedures in the order listed:
1. Print a flat-field gray film to compare against the film after PM is complete.
a. Log on to the service tool.
b. In the service tool, select Diagnostics > DRE > Advanced Test Print.
c. In the Test Profile drop-down list, select Flat1.8.
d. Click Run.
2. Ensure that any pending print cycles have completed. If the Pause symbol on the
display screen is illuminated, touch it to close the film cartridge.
3. Open the film supply door and remove the film cartridge. Leave the film supply door
open.
4. De-energize the imager, and then disconnect the power cord.
5. Remove the:
a. Top cover
b. Left cover
c. Right cover

6. Open the film supply door (1) and the filter cover (2):

8. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the:


• Charcoal filter area (1)
• Air duct (2)
• Exhaust plenum (3)
• Processor drum exhaust port (4)
• Air duct (5)
• Accumulator area (6)

10. Loosen the 2 captive thumb screws (1) on the heat shield (2), and then tilt the heat
shield open.

11. Remove the:
a. 2 screws that hold the felt pad assembly to the cooling plate (3)
b. Felt pad assembly (4)

12. Use alcohol wipes and a scraper to inspect and clean debris and buildup from the:
• Heat shield (1), including the bottom side of the shield
• Cooling plate (2)
• Densitometer guide (3)

13. Install a new felt pad assembly with 2 screws.


14. Close the heat shield.

15. Remove the 2 rear screws (1) on the processor drum cover, and then pivot the cover
open toward the front of the imager.

16. Continue with the next steps while the processor drum cools.
17. Take a sheet of the largest size film available and cut it lengthwise to make a strip
8 cm (3 in.) wide.

18. Fold the film strip lengthwise to form a V.

19. From the left side of the imager, insert the strip over the imaging roller to cover it.

20. Clean the processor drum.


• Wipe the processor drum with alcohol wipes in one direction with an even steady
pressure. Rotate the processor drum while wiping.
• Check the processor drum for imperfections, gouges, and areas of excessive
buildup of debris.
21. Clean and inspect the processor cover rollers for imperfections.
22. Carefully remove the processor drum.
23. Use an alcohol wipe to clean:
• Bottom side of the kapton stripper
• Bottom insulation
• Processor entrance idle roller
24. Reinstall the processor drum.
25. Pivot the processor drum cover closed.
26. Vacuum the:
• Top cover
• Film supply
• Entire processor assembly
27. Carefully remove the film you inserted over the imaging roller and discard it.

28. Install the 2 rear screws on the processor drum cover.


29. Install the:
a. New charcoal filter
b. Right cover
c. Left cover
d. Top cover
e. Filter door
30. Close the film supply door.
31. Place all used alcohol wipes and cleaning pads in a bag (SP78999828680), close the
bag with a tie-wrap, and then dispose of it according to local ordinances.
32. Energize the imager.

Postrequisites:
Reset the PM Counts and Change the Service History.

Reset the PM Counts and Change the Service History


1. Log on to the service tool.
2. Select Monitoring and Control > Imager Monitor.
The Imager Monitor screen displays.

3. Click Reset Prints to PM.

4. If your region requires a time-based PM, click Set PM Time Duration and select the
expiration. Click OK to confirm.
5. Click Reset Prints To Filter Replacement.

Complete the PM
1. Wait while the processor warms to Ready.
2. Check the drum temperature.
3. If necessary, adjust the drum temperature.
4. Make a flat-field gray test print.
5. Compare the test print with the test print made before the PM.
6. Make a print of a customer image.
7. Check the quality of the print with the customer.
8. Leave 2 charcoal filters with the customer.
