Bad Dog Inclusion Scholarship Application

The Bad Dog Theatre Company seeks to create an environment which is supportive and welcoming to all
people and reflects the experiences & perspectives of the greater community in which we live. To achieve this
goal we are working to increase representation of persons of color, women, persons 50 years of age or older,
members of the LGBTQ+ community and differently-abled persons in classes offered through the Bad Dog
Academy.

Bad Dog recognizes that the cost of our classes can pose a barrier to entry for members of our identified
diversity groups. In an effort to overcome this barrier, Bad Dog will award a total of 16 scholarships annually to
study at the Bad Dog Academy (4 awarded to students starting in our Foundation 1 classes, 4 awarded to
students continuing their studies in Foundation 2 or beyond, and 8 awarded to students studying at the
Intermediate or Studio/Performance level).

Bad Dog also regretfully acknowledges the physical accessibility limitations of our current facilities. There is no
wheelchair access or accessible washrooms at 875 Bloor St. W. - on site class space is up a narrow flight of
stairs, while our off site classes at sister venue, Comedy Bar (945 Bloor St. W.), are down a short half-flight of
stairs. We are in the process of partnering with Tim Rose and CANVAS to offer customized training
opportunities for the physically disabled at an accessible off-site location, with our pilot drop-in class scheduled
for August 2016. Please let us know if you would like further information.

Bad Dog’s Inclusion Scholarships are not explicitly need-based and are open to any persons who fall into one
of our identified diversity groups. However, we do ask that applicants be mindful of their need when
considering submitting an application so that those scholarships we award can be given to students who might
not otherwise be able to benefit from our classes without support from the theatre.
