MCAT Pakistan

Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is a test conducted in Pakistan every year for Pre-Medical
students. MDCAT is conducted by the University of Health Sciences (Lahore) in Punjab. Previously, its name
was "'Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)'" and new name was assigned in 2017 by [[University of
Health Sciences, Lahore|UHS]]. MDCAT is a pre-requisite for admission in all medical and dental colleges both
public and private sector. MDCAT Guide (www.mdcatguide.com) provide fres study resources for MDCAT
practice. MDCAT is taken as multiple choice questions (MCQ). Each question carries 5 marks while there is a
negative marking of -1 mark for wrong answer. UHS provides syllabus for MDCAT every year on its website. In
Punjab, every year, almost 55,000 students attempt this test. There are some 3400 seats in public sector
medical colleges and approximately 200 seats in public sector dental colleges of the Punjab.

The candidates have to solve the following pattern of MCQs from their concern key concepts of major
subjects.

 Physics (44 MCQs)

 Chemistry (58 MCQs)
 English (30 MCQs)
 Biology (88 MCQs)

The duration of Test is consists of 150 minutes (2½ hours). Each question contains 05 marks hence the total
marks are 1100. Five marks will be given for five correct answers whereas one mark will be deducted from
the total score on each incorrect answer.

Eligibility:

1. Applicants who studied Pre-Medical in their intermediate can apply.

2. Age: There is no age limit to appear in the entrance exam for the candidate from any part of the
country.
3. Applicant must secure 60% marks in his/her FSc-Pre Medical.
4. Those from American twelfth grade or A-level have to present an equivalence certificate issued by
the Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC), Islamabad.
5. One who doesn’t have the domicile of a province is not eligible to appear in the exam held by that
province.
