Wednesday, May 11,2016 ‘To whom ie may concern, | am writing this leter on behalf of Christine Languerand in her capacity as the High School Math Teacher here at Choice ‘Academy. Christine was hired during the course of the 2013-2014 school year. I recall being the teaching team representative at her interview, held in our director's cramped office. Christine was unfazed, forthcoming and had a tangibly postive presence. Hor interview was quite short as we had very quickly made up our minds that she would be a great addition to the schoo! ‘which has proven tobe the case without exception. Most signfcanty, Christine has made several changes to our math curriculum that provided increased dfrentiation, more systematic tracking of skill development as well at implemented many types of lessons which allow the students to use math in relevant and practical ways. These changes came about as a result of Christine's own initiative and desire to optimize student progress | am confident that Christine's efforts have had a direct effect on the quality of our students’ academic improvement In mathematical skis. Christine can routinely be found consulting with the Middle School teacher to share ideas about what is and isn't working for our student population and discuss additions to resources that could be beneficial In addition, Christine sa very caring homeroom teacher and her students will often utiize homeroom time to access support and get mentally prepared forthe day with her guidance. That being said, she does a wonderful job of setting consistent. frm limits in a way tat lets students know that she wants them to be successful. She is reliable overall and will ive into “get stuf done" efciently and has a alent for coming up with solutions. Working ina small school, our roles can be broad and consequently Christine has contributed to Choice in many ways. Ie ‘would be impractical to provide an exhaustive list but | wil highlight those most relevant. She implemented a "Service Learning elective and coordinated some very creative service learning opportunities independently. She was pivotal in campus beautification projects with other teaching staff They incorporated gardening, building and panting furniture, bird houses and raised beds from recycled pallets. She has also spent lots of time inthe school kitchen with our students overseeing the preparation of healthful community lunches for the whole school. In the interes of being concise, let me conclude that Christine s an ideal candidate for your academic program. She is dedicated tothe craft of teaching, has a knack for mutually rewarding collaboration and has demonstrated thoughtful lights Into the technical aspects of mathematical instruction, She i also adept at organizing people's efforts to yield impressive results and is a dynamic Heong leaner 1 can be reached via email should you require more input or have questions.
