Animal experimentation

Animal experimentation is something that has happened through history. Animal

experimentation is used for many different things like testing on chemical, drug, food, etc.

Also, is has been an extensive debate that has been argued. Some people agree to use animals

for experimentation, to find cure for vaccines and more. While, other don’t agree to use

animals for experimentation because they feel pain and are getting hurt. But many support the

belief that animals should be used for experimentation.

First of all, animal experimentation is something that is taken seriously and is not

something to play with. According to "Animal Research and Torture are Not the Same

Thing" it states that “Opponents of animal testing also seem to be concerned that scientists

are going rogue, doing whatever they like with the animals on which they experiment. This is

not the case. In fact, research on animals is one of the more highly regulated practices in

science”(4). This quote is saying that to do animal experimentation, scientist should be able

to know what to do and how to do it. This is important because it lets people know that

scientist know what they are doing. Another point that is show is that “Regulations and

training imposed by the CCAC help to make the treatment of research animals as humane as

possible and most scientists do their best to treat the animals with respect and dignity... the

vast majority of scientists take no pleasure in experimenting on animals”(10). This is quote is

also important because it informed that scientist treat the animals with respect and dignity so

the animals don't suffer to much. Also it says that scientists don’t like to experiment on

animals but they have to do it.

One important point to clarified why scientist should experiment on animals is to

develop new treatments for diseases humans need. In the article "VA Secretary: Disabled

Veterans Need Research on Dogs to Continue." the author points out that “The worldwide

medical and scientific community agrees that canine research is necessary, and actually

represents the only viable option for developing and testing new treatments for some medical

problems”(4). This quote is significant because is saying that experiment with animals is the

only way to test new cures. Coming back to "Animal Research and Torture are Not the Same

Thing" it states, “If drug safety research using animals was banned, I foresee two possible

outcomes: either potentially dangerous drugs would have to be tested on humans right off the

bat, or no new drugs would get clinical trial approval due to safety fears. As a result, the

world would miss out on life-changing new treatments for patients suffering from cancer,

arthritis, chronic pain, and many other conditions”(9). This quote is important because it’s

saying that if experiment with animals was banned then scientist will tested on humans. But I

don’t really thing no one will do that. So the other chose will lead that scientist will stop

finding treatment for diseases that don’t have a cure because they won’t have no one to tested

it with.

Some may point out the fact that scientists should not experiment on animals. They

might say that the animals that scientist use of testing may feel a lot of pain and fear. But

according to "Animal Research and Torture are Not the Same Thing" it says that “On the

contrary, the majority of animals used in research in Canada are mice (41%) and fish

(32%)”(3). This quote is saying that most of the animals scientist used, are animals that don’t

value to much. And when I say that they don’t value to much I’m not saying they aren’t

important but is just that even regular people kill them. For example, people kill the fish for

food and also people kill mices that are in there house because they don’t wanted them in

their house. So my point is that scientist use animals that people kill too.

Also animal experimentation is a beneficial to animals as well. According to "Love

Your Dog, Support Animal Research” it states, “Nearly 70% of American households have

pets. Those animals' food and vaccines all have been developed through humane research and

testing with lab animals”(4). This quote is saying that all of the animals food and vaccines

have tested on animals so that your pets are healthy. This is important because if they

wouldn’t find the cure for many diseases then your pets will get sick and suffer a lot or even

died. Another point that is shown is “Researchers working with chimpanzees in the U.S.

developed an Ebola vaccine in 2014 that could save thousands of apes”(8). This quote is

saying that there are so many diseases in the world that are killing a lot of animals. But

scientist develop vaccines for the diseases, but for testing this vaccines they should tried it on

some animals first. This quote matters because the vaccines scientist have developed have

save a lot of animals.

To sum it up, Animal experimentation should be used to find cures for diseases that

don’t have treatments. But animal experimentation is not beneficial to humans but also to

animals. Although others may argue that animal experimentation should not be use, we have

to because there aren’t other ways to find cures. So pleased support the belief to used animal

experimentation if you want scientist to find cures of diseases.
