Interview Questions

1. What is your current position/job title?

“I’m a homemaker”

2. What is your education/background?

“I’m a registered nurse with a college education. I have been a home school teacher, mom of 10 and 18 years
with the piano”

3. Do you have any special skills/experiences relating to the piano?

“Took lessons for about 10 years. I would practice all the time, even in my head”. She has had a class for
about 12 years with a steady group of 5-12 students
4. How many years of experience do you have with the piano?
“55 years of experience.” She has 2 pianos at home, and she would play hymns after her bedtime.
5. What are some positives on learning the piano.
“The sense that you’re making the music, and the piano is very usable, the music and how it travels to one
instrument to another. Music is hard, but it is also fun.”

6. Do you believe music makes the world a better place?


“Absolutely! Music is an art, it touches something out of life, a color. Music is that color. Music has a sense of
normalcy and sense of accomplishment “

7. When do you listen to music?

“Most of the time. I love to listen to classical. My dad used to sing a lot, I always sing in my head.”

8. What was your favorite type of music as an 18-year-old?


“We had music on all the time. We weren’t allowed to listen to the radio until I left the house. I know a lot of
songs. I married a musician, he was into a lot of music. Simon and Garfunkel, and things like that. I wasn’t
allowed to listen to The Beatles or other popular bands. I don’t like music that has profanity. My oldest
[daughter] was a pianist, she has a bachelor’s degree in music.

9. What is our favorite music now?


“Classical. It’s soulful. ‘Bach had the power of God’. Some of the classical songs touch God. My favorite song
right now is “10,000 reasons by Matt Redman”

10. Do you think there’s any negatives to music?

“Any place of expression you have it use discernment. If you listen to mellow things, you will get depressed.
The music you listen to affects your thinking”
