Nely Edith Miranda Herrera (Puebla, August 2, 1972) is a Mexican swimmer and policy specialist in the

50 m freestyle, 100 m freestyle and 200 m freestyle.2 3 In the political arena, she served as deputy
substitute for district 12 of Veracruz3 until retiring in 2012.4

She was part of the Mexican women's group of athletes who attended the Beijing 2008 Paralympic
Games where she won two gold medals in the 50 m freestyle - where she set a new world record with
46s27-5 and 100 m freestyle, both in the S4 category, while in the 200 m freestyle was seventh, 6 7 8
His coach was Fernando Vélez.9 Additionally, he has represented his country in several national and
international championships where he has won several medals.

At the continental level, he participated in the 2007 Parapan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, where
he received the silver medal in the 200m freestyle, three four years later, and in the 2011 Parapan
American Games in Guadalajara, where he won three medals. bronze in the 50 m freestyle, 100 m
freestyle and 200 m freestyle, all within the S5.2 category

On June 20, 2010, she surpassed the American record of the 50m freestyle female category S4 with a
time of 45s74 in Berlin.10 On August 18, she beat the American women's 100m freestyle in the same
category with a time trial of 1min41s74 in Eindhoven.10 On the other hand, during the 2011 Parapan
American Games, she beat the Pan American record of the 200m women's freestyle with a time of
3min41s60.8

In 2008, he received the National Sports Award along with María del Rosario Espinoza, Guillermo Pérez
Sandoval, Amalia Pérez Vázquez and José Luis Onofre; 11 on the other hand, in 2009 he received the
Veracruz State Sports Award.3

In the Parapan American Games Toronto 2015 got the Gold Medal and the world record of 39.92
seconds in the 50 meter free test S4.12

A year later he broke the world record in the 50 free S4 meters but he only won the bronze at the Rio
2016 Paralympic Games.
