EXPERIENCE

Aspire Food Group, Austin TX 2017 – 2018

Mechanical Engineer
Aspire is a start-up firm that raises food-grade crickets on a commercial scale. I was hired to design
equipment to increase efficiency in the harvesting process. My duties there included:
• Leading multiple projects through initial proposal, requirement determination, mathematical
analysis, determination of required specifications for power transmission, component and vendor
sourcing, creation of CAD models and fabrication drawings, building each piece of equipment,
design of test instrumentation, evaluation of results, and design optimization and redesign.
• Researching commercially available products and applying the principles in novel ways to
improve quality of company's commercial products.
• Performing data and statistical analysis and mapping to determine trends in experimental results.
• Serving as the liaison between the technology department and the livestock department to ensure
livestock's needs were met and that cross-departmental communication was maintained.
• Taking designs and rough prototypes from other engineers, familiarizing myself with their
systems, and determining ways to improve performance without requiring complete redesign.
• Supervising technicians.

Nissan/Renault, Sunnyvale CA 2014 - 2015

Student/Intern
At the conclusion of a two-semester internationally-collaborative design class at Stanford University
focused on an issue raised by an assigned corporate sponsor (Renault-Nissan in this case), I was hired as
an intern by said sponsor to refine and implement the design for further demonstration and testing. The
design challenge was using ambient communication in a fully autonomous vehicle to increase user trust.

Methodist Institute for Technology, Innovation and Education, Houston TX Summer 2014
Research Assistant
I researched and designed ways to improve resident training in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery
testing, under the guidance of surgical faculty.

Precision Engineering Research Group, Cambridge MA 2010 - 2014

Research Assistant
I designed, built, tested, and refined (after receiving feedback from medical professionals) a geometrically
accurate model of an abdomen for testing laparoscopic surgical tools and trocars, ultimately publishing
the research as an undergraduate thesis.
