 Equipment functionality
 Surge Hopper
 This a carbon steel vessel that cools the catalyst
from Regenerator
 This is achieved by a set of cooling water coils
(panel) placed at lower tangent of the vessel
 Catalyst at anytime should be above the cooling
panel by 450mm to ensure sufficient cooling
 Cooled catalyst (≈200oC) is transferred out by
gravity flow via sequence valves
 It is also the catalyst surge volume for the
circuit which absorbs any temporary catalyst
cycle imbalances
 Fresh catalyst top up facility is tied to this
Hopper
 Holds a Nuclear Level Detector for level
indication
