Oral Classroom Presentation Reflection

1. Define your audience

2. How many students were in attendance?
3. When and where did the presentation occur?
4. If you could redo your presentation, what would you change?
5. Based upon the response of your audience, what did they want you change, add or
clarify?
6. What aspects of your presentation were exceptional?
7. What growth have you seen in yourself as a speaker through this experience?

On Monday, November 6, 2017, during second period, I presented to Mr. Engler’s AP Chemistry

class. I presented in room 252, the AP chemistry lab and classroom in the MST hallway. There

were 16 students present because it is a very small class and that is the amount that is enrolled in

the class. If I could redo my presentation I would talk slower because I could feel throughout the

presentation that I did not take any breaths. I was constantly talking, and I could feel myself

talking too fast, which is never a good sign, especially since you always feel like you are talking

slower than you actually are when presenting. I would also change my interaction with the

audience after the presentation. I waited only a couple seconds and then took my laptop and sat

down. I do not think that I left enough time for the class to ask questions if they had any and I

could I redo it, I would want to leave time for their inquiry. However, the audience did not seem

to have any questions. A lot of the students said that the presentation was very nicely organized

and presented. However, they have the same opinion as me, and said that I could have spoken a

little slower or taken a breath between concepts. The students did comment that my attire was

appropriate for the presentation and that my explanation of terms and concepts throughout the

powerpoint was very effective and clear. This made the information presented easy to understand
and follow, even though I was talking relatively fast. They also responded that I seemed prepared

and knowledgeable on my topic because of the smoothness of my speaking and the fact that I did

not rely on reading the slides for the information. Through this experience I have noticed that I

have become a much stronger speaker. I am able to more smoothly transition between topics and

explain information without hesitating. This makes the presentation sound more prepared and the

presenter sound more credible. In addition, I have also improved my speaking skills because I

am able to be heard. I used to speak very softly but I fixed that throughout the presentation

process. I have already grown through this presentation, and I hope to improve my presentation

skills even more with the other classroom presentations to come.
