I. Ch13
1. A 90-lb package is at rest on an incline when a
constant force P is applied to it. The coefficient of
kinetic friction between the package and the
incline is 0.35. Knowing that the speed of the package
is 2 ft/s after it has moved 3 ft up the incline, determine
(a) the kinetic energy of the package after it has
moved up the incline, & (b) the magnitude of the force
Figure 1 P.
4. A 1.4 kg model rocket is launched vertically from rest with a constant thrust of 25 N until
the rocket reaches an altitude of 15 m and the thrust ends. Neglecting air resistance,
determine (a) the speed of the rocket when the thrust ends, (b) the maximum height
reached by the rocket, (c) the speed of the rocket when it returns to the ground.
II. Ch12
5. The system is initially at rest. Neglecting friction & masses of
pulleys, determine the
(a) acceleration of block A,
(b) velocity of block A after it has moved through 10 ft
(c) time required for block A to reach a velocity of 20ft/s.
