Day one:

Today is the first day in the school. Unfortunately, for some reasons we couldn’t start the teaching
practice on Sunday. However, I tried to cover up and get to know the staff and the teachers. I went to
the class and get to observe the three different sections. The strategies were used by the teacher to
control the students were effected as usual. The teacher knows how to control her class in different
situations. She praised students by using verbal feedbacks, written feedbacks, and visual feedback like
stickers. I believe that praising students for positive behavior or after a good behavior are effected to
inform the students that they are valued and that the teacher appreciate and care about them.

All the English teachers have to attend the meeting in Al Remaqia school to discuss about the lessons.
Although I got the chance to sit with my MST for four hours, I got to discuss with her about the
curriculum. I asked to join the meeting with the teachers but, because it is my first day and I need to
spend time more with the students, my MST asked me to go next two weeks.

Reflections:

- My MST has different strategies for classroom management, such as the reward system,
classroom rules, classroom routine and repeated words.
- Meeting with the other teachers to discuss about the lessons is very helpful and development to
create a professional plan that meets students’ learning.
- From my observation, the three sections are different in their level of learning and behaving
differently. So, the teacher may plan different strategies that fit with each class.

Day two 30/1/2018

Today I went around the school and get to discover more about the school resources, structure and to
meet the other teachers. I went also, to check the library and find out the available books and the
purpose of these books. The library was well organized and rich print environment. It’s appropriate for
encouraging students to read and feel comfortable while reading. The school provides many activities to
get the students motivated to learn. Art, music and sport are being taught through activities and get the
students highly independent worker. According to Piaget, "that teachers can teach young children to
understand a concept, he was certain that children build their own understanding of the world by the
things they do" (Moony, 2000)

Reflections:

- The structure of the school is very suitable and safety of the students and teachers.
- The books are rich of educational information.
- Integrating learning with fun is one of the techniques that the school applied.
Day three 31/1/2018

Finally, today I got the chance to teach my lovely students. I teach three different sections and I
used this chance to work on my research project. I got to know the students more and be close
to them so, in this way I get to test the students’ ability and provide what is suitable for each
student. Also, I discussed some points about my teaching with my MST. I am planning to
observe the different grade level and compare between the different assessment strategies and
get the advantage of each strategy.

Reflections:

- Be closer to the students allows me to know their personality and their ability.
- I got the chance to work on my research project.

Day four 1st/ 2/2018

Today, I observed grade five teacher. She prepared different experiments. The teacher applies learning
centers activities. The students were engaged and enthused to work and learn. At the end the students
were able to explain the learning outcomes fluently.

- Integrate learning centers assess in covering learning outcomes.

- Hands-on activities enable students to be involved in the lesson and learn by themselves.
- Collaboration during the activities empower the teacher to have better and various learning.

Week two:

Day one 4/2/2018

- Students are engaged and excited to learn more through hands-on activities.
- Gaining feedbacks from my MCT develop my weak points in teaching practice.

Day two 5/2/2018

I got the chance today to monitor the students during the test. I developed my skills in managing the
classroom and ability to control the students. I asked my MST if I can correct the students’ exam paper
because, I wanted to assess their abilities after I gave them activities. The grade were() between good
and excellent grades. I think students’ knowledge has been developed after the activities. Some of the
students didn’t get a good mark and that because they didn’t study well.

Reflections:

- Students’ results show me the effects of the activities.

Day three 6/2/2018

Today me and my colleague prepared for telling a story. We get the masks to represent the
characters. We worked on changing our voice during the story. Moreover, we get the students
to participate and engaged. The students were able to answer all the questions related to the
story.

Reflections:

- Storytelling influence on students’ learning.

- Students learn more when they are engaged.
- Changing our voices during the story plays a role in demonstrating the events.

the students different activities to develop the missing knowledge. We spend the whole lesson
trying to assess the whole class and giving them ongoing feedback for the next periods.

Reflection:

- Assessing students enable the teacher to provide the missing learning.

work. This day we decided to choose four of the students to be the star of the week from each
section.

Week four:

Day one 18/2/2018

Today I worked on applied one of the assessment strategy. I wanted to test the strategy and collect data
and check the effectiveness of this strategy. I get to be observed and get feedback from my MST. This
benefits me as a researcher to gain deep knowledge.

Day two 19/2/2018

I get the chance to be observed the second time from my MCT. The lesson was simple, successful and
well applied as I planned. As usual, my MCT’s feedback develops my teaching and leads me to work on
my weakness.

Reflection:

- The feedback is linked to learning from mistakes, confidence and motivation.

Day three 20/2/2018

Today, I volunteered to buy at the canteen. Helping other staff is what I always seek to achieve. I’m trying
to get involved with everyone and get more experience about the school life.

Reflection:

- I’m very proud to volunteer in the school and I’m planning to volunteer more.

Day four 21/2/2018

My MST required to teach grade one because their teacher is sick and she will be absent for three weeks.
She faced a problem with having routine with them. Grade one students are hyperactive and engaged all
the time. They still need time to know the teacher and the new class. However, me and my colleague
decided to assess her. We divided the students into six groups. Each one of us responsible for two
groups. In this way we ensure all the students are having enough time of learning.

Reflection:

- Working with grade one students, taught me new ways of dealing with the students.
- I was satisfied to help my MST.

teacher. I demonstrated the my data and discussed about the strategies I applied in each
lesson. Moreover, the reason behind choosing the strategies.

Week six
Day one 4/3/2018

Reading the story for the students. The story was about MMMMMMM. I connect the students’
life to the story by asking them about their birth date and place. I then get the students to
discuss together and give me examples.

Reflection:

- The students were fully participating and excited while I’m reading the story.
- Connecting the story to their life, extend their knowledge and clarify the story.

Day two 5/3/2018

Today, I have applied different activities. The five activities were designed to achieve the
learning outcomes. However, the students chose the activity they think they are able to work on.
The teacher observed and scaffolded the students who need.

Reflection:

- Allowing students to choose the activity give them the sense of responsibility and
provide the individual learning.

Day three 6/3/2018

The grade three students have a listening test from the ministry. I asked my MST if I could
observe the students during the exam. And I did also, me and my colleague correct the paper
under my MST’s monitoring. It was a different way of assessing students.

Reflection:

- Assessing students during the listening test, clarify the level of students’ ability in
literacy.

Day four 7/3/2018

Today, the school organized for Sport National Day. There were different sport competition and
activities for the whole day. This idea is adorable. Both the teachers and the students were

Week seven 11/3/2018 to 15/3/2018 And Week eight 18/3/2018 to 22/3/2018

The first four days in week seven the students had finals. I and my colleague were allowed to
read the English exam for the students. Not only, but also we were able to monitor the students
for the other exams. This is the first time, I monitor the students when they have finals. I had to
take a deep sense of responsibility. I felt how much the teacher plays a significant role in
preventing any misbehavior may occur during the exam. However, I asked my MST if I’m
allowed to correct the students’ exams. And fortunately, I did that. We spend two days in
correcting the papers. My MST was grateful because of our assistance.
Me and my colleagues decide to reward the students because of their hard working. We printed
out an appreciation certificate and we asked the director to seal the certificate. I always hate the
last day of the teaching practice. I don’t want to lose my time with the students. I’m really upset
because I’m leaving the school. I get used to seeing them everyday and teach them. Kids are
the most wonderful creatures in the earth. I hope I leave a good fingerprint in their life. Within
the last eight weeks, I spend gorgeous days with my students and my MST. I learned, taught,
helped, enjoyed and laughed. These days will always remain in my mind.

Reflections:

- Monitoring students during the exam enhance my skills in managing the classroom
management.
- I developed myself in assessing and evaluating students with a new strategy.
