Features of Type Approval System
• 3rd Party Type Approval system is similar to ECE
• Implemented in year 1991
• TA administration Agencies
Notifying agencies: MoRTH, MoEF, etc.
Standards and other requirements are notified under CMVR
Testing agencies: ARAI and some other Agencies are authorized
TA certificates: Issued by Testing Agencies
Conformity of Production: Vehicle level CoP for Emission. Components CoP
as per AIS 037 for the notified components

AISC Technical committee prepares AIS standards as an interim step
