To Whom It May Concern:

“I am scared that one day I will look online and see a picture of my daughter and… she’s starving to death”
(Amina, asylum speaker). Most refugees currently are scared of death; but even more afraid of loved one’s
suffering. I am Emma Kolodrivskiy. The reason I am writing this letter, is because refugees all around the world
are being treated poorly starting from when they were small and innocent and until they die. They cannot feel
safe anywhere knowing they might get caught and extinguished. In general society, one should accept another
for whom they are in the inside rather than what they look like or where they come from.
In current civilization, “11.5% of Syrian population have been injured or even killed” (Black 3) since the
crisis that happened. And with that, life expectancy for Syrian refugees decreased 14.6 years from 2010 to 2015.
More and more people are dying because of thoughtless and inhumane acts by the wealthier. Society starts to
reject the refugees that come to their country and state that life will be better without them but in truth, it is
negatively hurting the nation. Now, the question is raised on whether “to admit refugees or turn them away”
(Geller 3).
Evidently, there are more similarities between Syrian refugee crisis’ currently and during the World War
II. In the time of WWII, alert spread that the nazis “would plant agents, spies, and saboteurs among the Jewish
refugees” to spy be spies or agents to the Nazis (Geller 7). Panic spread quickly and soon, the country was
falling apart due to lack of trust. These argument are disturbingly similar to those towards the Syrian refugees
today. People have in mind that the refugees have just come to steal America’s ideas and destroy all its plans
which is a main cause on why the refugees are being rejected.
The law makers finally made a law. They said that all refugees will go through the U.S. Refugee
Resettlement Process to make sure they are not spies or anyone who would hurt the country. The law was a
sound proposition because this way, everyone is triumphant. In the years after the law was made, the “U.S. has
become the world’s largest recipient of international refugees” (Geller 23) meaning refugees all around the
world traveled to America.
Thus, all refugees should be able to have a home to come back to even when they are not from that
country. Many Syrian refugees are dying and getting severely hurt by others just because they don’t belong
there. That should not be… The government needs to improve their laws to keep all that enter the U.S. feel at
home. Because there already is a rule, The U.S. Refugee Resettlement Process, government officials are bound
to make the process more efficient. Thank you for your time and support. Don’t forget to vote now to free all
refugees from pain and discomfort. Have a great day!

Sincerely, Emma Kolodrivskiy
