Activity: Create text on a face

In this activity, you will create text on one or more connected faces. Text can be
aligned along a face, along a selected curve or from a point along a vertical
direction.

Create text on a face

1. Open syn1_text_surface.

2. Choose Curve tab→Curve group→Text .

3. In the Text dialog box, from the Type list, select On Face.
4. Select the center face near the left end of the elbow.

5. In the Location on Face group, from the Placement Method list, select Curves
on Faces.
6. Click Select Curve.
7. Select the face curve near the left end.

This face curve was projected onto the face.

You can double-click the starting direction cone head to reverse the text
direction.

8. In the Text Properties group, in the text box, type Pt. No. NX, if necessary.
9. Use the following settings:
Font: Arial
Script: Western
Font Style: Regular

10. In the Settings group, ensure the Project Curves check box is selected.
11. Clear the Join Curves check box and click OK.

Edit the text

1. In the Part Navigator, double-click Text (9).
2. Experiment with the handles to size and position your text as desired.

You can also change the values in the Length and Height boxes.

3. In the Text Frame group, under Dimensions, edit the values to make the text
small enough to fit on the surface.
4. Click OK to complete the creation of text on the surface of the model.

5. Close the part.

You completed the activity.
